Today I’m reviewing the latest in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series, a series which I love and is a must-read for me. Many thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for having me on the tour and sending me a copy of the book to review.
The Book: After bonding with the lovely Jensen as they save a dog in trouble, Annalise – new to Sunnybrook – is gutted when they part without swapping numbers. She’d had the weirdest feeling he could be The One but now she might never see Jensen again. When she loses her new job in a wedding boutique, her week goes from bad to worse – until Maddy and the café crew come to her rescue with an exciting solution. The Pudding Club. Can Annalise rise to the challenge and – with the help of the Little Duck Pond Café crew – start teaching others how to make her glorious puds? And could The Pudding Club be the key to finding Jensen again?

The Review: I don’t know whether it’s the time of year or something else but I felt this book was extra cosy. It’s not all plain sailing for Annalise by any stretch of the imagination, but there is so much cosiness and warmth in this book that I felt like I was snuggled up in front of a fire (even though it’s been quite warm this week!). I loved every aspect of this book from meeting and following Annalise find a new path in life, meeting the very cute Barley (the dog) and even encountering Jensen, who makes a very brief but very memorable appearance in the beginning.
It was lovely to be back in the Duck Pond Cafe again, as the last book didn’t involve it much. I like that not all books involve it or the characters from it. It makes it even nicer when they therefore are in a story. However being back there made so much sense for this story and Annalise. The premise of the Pudding Club is a brilliant idea given her skills and situation and even the idea of sitting indoors on a darkening night watching someone make puddings and getting to taste them after, yum! Sign me up now!
Honestly, this book was just what I needed right now. Things are a bit hectic (nothing serious, just busy) and escaping to all this cosiness and warmth, and constant talk of puddings was just bliss. If you’re after a properly cosy read then this is definitely worth checking out. Though it’s part of a series it’s not essential to read them in order.
The Author:
Rosie Green’s Little Duck Pond Cafe series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe and most can be read as stand-alone stories. (‘The Sunshine Sisters’ is a trilogy within the Little Duck Pond Café series and it would benefit from being read in order: Aurora, Skye and Blossom.) Look out for ‘Cosy Nights & Snowball Fights’, and ‘Maddy’s Christmas Wedding’, both out later this year in time for the festive season!
