Paperback published by Austin Macauley 8th November 2024

ISBN 9781035862177

Gabriela, a product of the care system, is an independent and feisty young lady. She has a brief and innocent encounter with a complete stranger, during which she intuitively forms the opinion that this odd man is dangerous. She has absolutely no evidence, but she feels driven by her gut feeling to discover proof to substantiate her suspicions. This only serves to get her into trouble with the police for stalking, harassment, and theft. They treat her as a nuisance who suffers from delusions and, as far as possible, she is to be ignored and discouraged. However, her doggedness and determination drive her to persevere with her quest despite the opposition, only to succeed in putting her own life on the line. Can she be rescued? Or will she, in fact, become just one more hidden victim?

MY REVIEW

I have become a huge fan of author Bruno Beaches after reading serval of his novels. Everyone of Bruno’s novels captures my interest as each one of his stories takes me to a whole different world. The scenes, set me on edge as Gabriela takes matters into her own hand. I felt really sorry for Gabriela, my heart ached for her, with all that she has been through. From a very early age, she has been in the care system, sadly going from one foster home to another. Now Gabriela, has got an older living on her own, she strikes up a bond with a Dorothy an older woman in the same block of maisonettes. It appeared to me that Dorothy was seen like a mother to Gabriela, and to Dorothy, Gabriela was like her daughter. One day while Gabriela is food shopping, she noticed a man giving her a cold look, and staring at her. She wondered if she knew him from somewhere, shaking badly, Gabriela could see that the man looked like he recognised her. Dorothy was the first person Gabriela told, about her frightening experience. Could Gabriela have known this man from her past?

About author Bruno Beaches

Bruno Beaches is a mature, retired police officer who has had a lot of life experience. He also has experience in the world of business. He was married to his first wife for thirty years and they raised four beautiful children together. He loved being a family man, and enjoyed the simple things in life, such as family, DIY and gardening. Following his own divorce, he experienced at first hand the ongoing traumas and challenges which divorce visits upon both partners, to some extent, for the rest of their lives. Some years later he married again, and just three years after that, he endured the trauma of a second divorced. He started writing because he wanted to challenge the ease with which people consider and embrace divorce as an early option. He wanted to challenge the flippancy of the general view that you just ‘move on’ and that everything will just ‘be alright’. He wanted to reveal with insight and feeling the emotional roller-coaster that divorce is, the details of which people in general gloss over or deny. What makes it strong and durable? As he writes, he explores the mechanics of a loving relationship. What makes it strong and durable? What makes it weak and vulnerable? https://www.instagram.com/bruno.beaches
