Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Carolyna Hutchings has officially walked away from The Real Housewives of Lagos after four years on the reality TV franchise.
The actress announced her exit on Instagram on Monday, making it clear that she is ready to return her full attention to the career she built long before reality television.
Carolyna said she is closing the RHOL chapter and going back to acting, filmmaking and producing, areas where she has spent more than two decades building her name.
“THE CURTAIN CLOSES ON RHOL.
She reminded fans that before becoming one of the faces of The Real Housewives of Lagos, she was already an actress, producer and storyteller with a lengthy Nollywood career.
According to Carolyna, she has worked on more than 60 movies and has 10 new films currently in the pipeline through her production company, Afrivista Films.
“I have entertained you through RHOL just as I have entertained you through the many movies I have been privileged to be part of. But reality television is one chapter, not the definition of my career or my reality.”
The actress made her Real Housewives of Lagos debut when the Showmax reality series premiered in April 2022. She was part of the original cast alongside Iyabo Ojo, Laura Ikeji Kanu, Chioma Ikokwu, Toyin Lawani Adebayo and Mariam Timmer.
Carolyna later returned for the show’s third season, which premiered in January 2025, alongside Laura Ikeji Kanu and Mariam Timmer.
However, reality television represents only one part of Carolyna’s career.
She began acting professionally in 2004 and has appeared in numerous Nollywood productions. She also established herself behind the camera as a producer through Afrivista Films, where she says several new projects are now in development.
Announcing her departure, Carolyna appeared determined to separate her reality TV persona from the wider career she has built over the years.
“RHOL was a chapter. Carolyna is the story. And the story continues.
Her exit now marks the end of her run on one of Nigeria’s biggest reality franchises, as she shifts the spotlight back to her work in film.
