Chelsea are 90 minutes away from sealing its return to the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Alyssa Thompson and her Chelsea teammates make the trip to Spanish club Real Sociedad on Wednesday, holding a 5-2 aggregate lead in qualifying. The U.S. Women’s National Team attacker logged 90 minutes in the first leg triumph, while fellow USWNT teammate Naomi Girma scored once in a 64-minute shift.
After logging nine goals in her first season at Stamford Bridge, Thompson will now seek to kick off her second campaign with an impactful showing in Spain. Chelsea avoided some scary moments in the first leg and should be ready for anything that Real Sociedad throws its way.
Thompson is among those favored to retain their starting spots as Chelsea seeks a second-straight win in Europe.
