Google has already teased both the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Pixel 11 Pro, so there was only one thing left for them to do – show us the Pixel Watch 5. To end the week, they’ve done just that with an official video that showcases the design and makes sure we all know that this is a smartwatch that actually looks like a watch.
In the short 20-second clip, as the watch slowly rotates into the frame to highlight its familiar and round design, the narrator riffs by saying, “Imagine a watch that tracks your health, sleep, and fitness, but still has the decency to look like…a watch.”
Yes, the Pixel Watch 5 does indeed look mostly like a real watch because of its round design and crown. Is this a dig at Apple and Samsung for both making big, boxy square watches that look more tech than timepiece? Maybe. Whatever.
The teaser doesn’t dive into anything else other than by giving a confirmation that the Pixel Watch 5 will run some form of Gemini Intelligence. It’s also now confirmed for an August 12 reveal, although the launch timing is up for debate.
