Citizen Quartz Solar Cell
Eight solar cells positioned on the dial convert solar (light) energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy is then stored in a secondary battery (silver battery), averaged out, and supplied to the electronic circuitry to drive the movement.
It is designed to operate sufficiently under normal usage conditions (exposure to natural light and indoor light), and approximately 10 minutes of direct sunlight is enough energy to power the watch for a full day.
The rechargeable battery uses a small silver battery with superior energy storage capacity instead of the conventional nickel-cadmium battery, so the watch will continue to operate for the first two years even without any light exposure.
The watch boasts an accuracy of within ±15 seconds per month on average, and includes a second hand stop function at any desired position and a power-saving switch.
