Walmart Joins Growing List of Companies Recalling Metal Grill Brushes – CookOut News

After years of anecdotes online about bristles dislodging from metal wire grill brushes and accidentally being eaten, this year has been a year of recalls. Starting back in February, Weber issued a large recall for metal wire grill brushes, and we’ve seen many others follow suit.

Walmart is the latest to recall metal grill brushes, with an announced recall today. Their recall applies to about 4.5 million brushes across five SKUs, with sales dating back to January 2021.

Like the other recalls, owners of the impacted brushes should stop using them immediately, and contact Walmart for a refund. More info on the recall can be found on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

One difference with Walmart’s recall compared to others is they state that they haven’t had any reports of incidents or injuries stemming from the brushes. Other companies listed complaints and reviews about issues that consumers have had.

With Walmart’s recall there have been about 21.5 million grill brushes recalled this year.

  • Nexgrill: 10.2 million brushes
  • Weber: Over 3.2 million brushes
  • Conair / Cuisinart: 3.6 million brushes total (an initial 1.7 million brush recall that was later expanded by an additional 1.9 million)

I’d expect this list to keep growing, especially with multiple lawsuits out there for the issue. Grill brushes similar to the ones being recalled are still for sale, and have been in the past by other companies.
