My Spring Reset – Women Living Well After 50

Reset your energy. Reconnect with what matters. Make space to bloom.

Spring has always felt like an invitation to begin again. As the days become longer and lighter, there’s something about the change of season that makes me want to pause, take stock and think about how I want to feel in the months ahead.

This year, that feeling of a fresh start is particularly strong.

I turned 69 on 23 August, so I’m into my last year of my 60s – where has that time gone? With all the changes that have been happening in my life I’ve decided that on 1 September I’m beginning my own Spring Reset — just a few days before we move into our new home on 3 September.

A new season. A new home. A new chapter.

At this stage of life, I’m increasingly aware that our energy is one of our most valuable resources. It’s not just about how we spend our time, but where we choose to put our energy and what we want to make space for.

My Spring Reset isn’t about losing weight, following a strict routine or trying to become a “better” version of myself.

It’s about pausing, paying attention and making some intentional choices about what matters now.

My Five Intentions

For me, this reset comes down to five simple intentions:

Move — keep my body strong, mobile and active
Nourish — eat well to support the life I want to live
Manage my energy — notice what gives and drains my energy
Reset — clear some physical and mental space
Bloom — keep learning, connecting, exploring and enjoying life

I’ll continue moving my body in ways that make me feel strong, mobile and capable. I’m also taking part in Million Moves, which is a wonderful reminder that movement doesn’t have to be complicated. Every step counts.

75% of Australians aren’t moving enough.. and that’s our parents, friends, kids, and communities. Million Moves isn’t just a exercise challenge, it’s a movement to change that.  From 1–21 September, the Million Moves challenge is asking Australia to get moving for 21 days. Whether it’s 15, 30 or 60 minutes, every minute counts.

1 minute of movement = 1 move Every minute counts. Every move matters.

Any movement counts, big or small, seated or standing, high or low impact. No cost. No catch. Just sign up and start moving for your health, your family, and the 75%.

Why is it called Million Moves

It’s a goal we can all move toward, together. Every squat, step, stretch and spin adds up. One person can make a difference, but millions of us can create a movement. This year Ausactive are asking,  How many millions of moves can 2026 achieve?

Part of my Spring Reset will focus on nourishing myself with good food, enough protein and plenty of water — not another restrictive diet, but food that supports the active life I want to lead.

And I’ll be paying much more attention to my energy.

I’ve been thinking about Energy Accounting — much like we account for our money, perhaps we should pay attention to where our energy goes.

What gives you energy? What drains you? What deserves more of your precious energy?

These are questions I’m asking myself.

A Fresh Start

Moving house has also given me an opportunity to think about what I really need and what I’m ready to let go of.

Sometimes a reset doesn’t require a dramatic life overhaul. It might be clearing a cupboard, changing a routine, saying no to something, reconnecting with someone or finally making time for something you’ve been putting off.

A reset is simply a chance to choose again.

And that’s something we can do at any age.

I don’t want my life to become smaller because I’m getting older. I want it to remain interesting, purposeful and full of possibility.

That’s what Life in Full Bloom means to me.

So this September, rather than setting myself a list of impossible goals, I’m asking:

What do I want more of?
What do I want less of?
Where is my energy going?
What would help me feel more alive?

Perhaps you’d like to ask yourself the same questions.

You don’t have to change everything.

Choose one small thing.

Take a walk. Try something new. Nourish yourself well. Protect your energy. Clear some space. Call a friend. Make time for something you’ve been putting off.

Pause. Rebalance. Move. Nourish. Bloom.

From 1 September, I’ll be sharing my Spring Reset journey here, through my newsletter and on Instagram. I’ll be experimenting, learning and making small changes as I move into this next chapter.

I’d love you to come along with me.

Let’s make this spring (or Autumn/Fall if you live in the Northern Hemisphere) a season of living with intention and making space for what’s next.

It’s never too late for a reset. 🌸
