There are moments in life that quietly change you, and then there are moments that shake you to your core. The day Theo was born was both.

I remember watching Trice as the contractions began to intensify. At first, there was excitement, the kind you try to hold steady because you know something big is about to happen. But as the hours passed, that excitement slowly gave way to something heavier. Helplessness.

Seeing the person you love in pain is a different kind of struggle. You want to take even just a fraction of it away, trade places even for a second, but you can’t. All you can do is stay beside her, hold her hand, and remind her she’s not alone. Trice endured every wave of contraction with a kind of strength I honestly didn’t know was possible. No complaints, no giving up. Just pure determination to bring our son into the world.

What we thought would be a straightforward delivery suddenly changed. The doctors discovered that Theo had a cord coil, and everything quickly shifted into an emergency situation. The room felt different. Movements became quicker, voices more focused. Before I could fully process it, Trice was being prepared for an emergency CS.

That moment hit hard. From watching her fight through hours of labor to suddenly facing surgery, it felt overwhelming. But even then, Trice remained calm. Strong. Steady. Her strength grounded me when everything else felt uncertain.
Our doctors and their team handled everything with such professionalism and composure. In a moment filled with fear, their calmness gave us reassurance that Trice and Theo were in good hands. Even they were amazed at how strong Trice was throughout the entire process, and honestly, I was too.
The nurses and staff played a huge role in making the experience more bearable. As first time parents, we had so many questions, and they answered each one with patience and care. They made sure both Trice and Theo were comfortable before and after the delivery, checking in on us and guiding us through everything we needed to know.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, we felt supported every step of the way. Even the small things, like the thoughtful freebies and little gestures, added comfort during a time that could have easily felt overwhelming.

And then Theo arrived.

In that moment, everything else faded. The fear, the tension, the long hours, all of it. What remained was relief and gratitude. Gratitude that Trice was safe. Gratitude that Theo was finally here. Gratitude for the people who took care of them when it mattered most.

That day changed how I see strength. It’s not loud. It’s not always visible. Sometimes, it looks like a woman enduring hours of labor, facing an unexpected emergency, and still pushing through with everything she has.
I don’t think I’ll ever look at Trice the same way again. In the best way possible.
And for that entire experience, we will always be thankful. Not just for a safe delivery, but for the care, support, and reassurance that carried us through one of the most intense days of our lives.
