Here’s a Malbec at Costco that caught our eye and is a wine we’ve never reviewed.
We weren’t sure what to make of the “golden reserve” designation exactly, but as you can see on the back label below, the wine comes from 100 year old vines, and the wine is aged for 12 months in oak.
Costco’s price is $15.49, below the retail of $20, and note the price ending in $0.49 which indicates that Costco worked out a special price with the producer so this is likely the best price you’ll find.
Solid 90+ point ratings for this wine too across the board, and across every recent vintage: 93 from Suckling, 91 from Wine Enthusiast and 90 points from Wine Spectator.
This wine is a medium to dark ruby in the glass with ripe dark fruit and spice on the nose; medium to full in body with firm tannins; robust fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum; solid finish with subtle mocha notes and oak.
