That is such an amazing read, the descriptions of the settings both in London and the Scottish island are so realistic that you can clearly see everything, you fear the bombings in London, smell the burning and you are so scared for the characters, and the noises are completely different to Scotland. When we get to the Scottish Island you feel how harsh the weather is, the wind, the loneliness, the quietness.
The characters seem so real, and I liked how the cousin’s relationship develops over time. These characters all have their faults, and I really like how Magnus changed over the course of the book.
This book deals a lot with grief, and how it affects people in different ways. This is one of those books that you don’t know the outcome of until the very end.
A Girl’s Guide to Spying
Did you know that the Girl Guides worked undercover for MI5 during the First World War? – I didn’t.
Phyllis and her younger sister, Annie, join the Guides hoping for adventure, despite their parents’ fears that the Guides are unladylike. Starting soon after the start of the First World War, the sisters are swept up in a bigger adventure than they’d bargained for when Phyllis is recruited as a messenger for MI5. Annie, meanwhile, embarks on an investigation of her own, suspecting the family who run the local haberdashery shop of being German spies. When one of the officers at M15, the stern Captain Warren, goes missing, the sisters find themselves joining forces. Could he be the real spy? And who is behind his mysterious disappearance?
The only word I can find to describe this book is excellent. This book not only gives the reader a mystery to solve, it also gives the reader a little history lesson on the first world war.
In no other book I have read has mentioned the girl guides’ part in the war effort.
It is plain to the reader that the author has researched this subject and has written it in a way that younger readers will understand.

This was as good as the first book, and in some ways better.
This starts off straight after book 1.
This is a fast paced book, and it really is non stop action from the first page, we have the same characters from book 1 with 2 new characters introduced.
There is a brief reminder of book 1 at the start of the story, though this book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading book 2.
I hope there is a book 3 in the pipeline.

This is another laugh out loud book, featuring these mis – fit characters.
This is a great series that looks at how an alien might see us earthlings, how we do something might come across as strange but to us they are perfectly normal.
In the last book Sky tried( and failed ) to bring back dinosaurs and this time she has set her sights even higher, world peace.
This is a fun read.
