3. Build a Strong Network from Day One
If I had to start from scratch, I would prioritize building a strong, supportive network from day one. To be honest that is one of the goals that I have set for myself for this year. Building yourself from the ground up can be a lonely journey but I realize that relationships are invaluable, whether in life or business.
The importance though is to build relationships with like-minded people. Reach out to people who inspire you, connect with those who share similar goals, and don’t be afraid to ask for advice or mentorship.
I read this phrase somewhere and totally agree with it: Your network is your net worth. Being part of a community can provide support, accountability, and sometimes even opportunities that you wouldn’t have found on your own.
If you are looking for such a group of women, I encourage you to become a part of my community. Besides weekly motivational emails, you will also get access to brainstorming sessions, webinars, and more. I would love to welcome you to our tribe. You can subscribe to the mailing list here.
4. Consider Building a Personal BranD
If you are starting a new business or wish to develop your brand, I would consider starting a personal brand.
I’d focus on building a personal brand that is authentic to who I am and what I want to offer the world. This means getting clear on my values, strengths, and the unique perspective I bring to the table.
In today’s digital world, a strong personal brand can set you apart from the competition and help you connect with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s through social media, a blog, or a YouTube channel, find a platform where you can share your story and expertise. Nowadays you can do all of that without even having to show your face.
It’s important to remember that every pot has its cover. Meaning that every subject or topic has its following, no matter what that topic is.
5. Stay Organized and Productive
Starting from zero requires a lot of discipline and organization. Find tools that can help you do just that.
What works for me is to write down my goals for the day and mark them as done as I go. The key is to keep your daily lists simple and realistic. You definitely want to avoid adding your ultimate goal or dream to that daily list because you will feel like a failure at the end of the day when you haven’t accomplished it.
Use tools like Google Calendar to remind you of and help you organize your appointments or the app Goblin to keep track of your responsibilities and to-do list goals. Staying on top of your schedule is crucial when you’re trying to build something from scratch, as it allows you to manage your time effectively and stay focused on what’s important.
Remember, productivity isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing what matters most.
6. Prioritize Mindset and Personal Growth
I would make mindset and personal growth a priority. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget about taking care of yourself, but the truth is, your mindset can make or break your success. When it comes to personal and business growth, working on your mindset should take 80% of your energy.
Whether it’s through daily affirmations, meditation, or reading summaries of the best self-help books, keeping your mind in the right place is key.
When I started my personal growth journey I developed a morning routine of meditating, journaling, and listening to podcasts on topics that inspired me to become the best version of me. Your daily routine might look completely different but whatever it looks like make sure it includes some self-care practices.
There are several tools that you can use or apps that you can purchase. Two of the tools I can recommend are Headway and Pulse of Potential to help you stay inspired and keep a growth mindset.
7. be patient
At the beginning of starting over you are going to want to just get there already. You want to get the learning and growing out of the way to get to your end result quickly. Don’t rush it.
In my language Papiamentu we have a saying “Sopi purá ta sali sálu” which translates to “A rushed soup will come out salty”. Have patience and take your time. Learning something new or starting over can be challenging, not to mention frustrating AF, and you are going to want to quit multiple times but be patient.
Here is where I found that journaling, daily meditation, and a supportive community can really help.
Conclusion
Starting over from zero isn’t easy, but it’s an incredible opportunity to build something new, something that truly aligns with your goals and passions. Whether you’re starting a new business, pivoting in your career, or just looking to make a change, remember that every big journey starts with a single step.
So here’s to new beginnings!
