Andrew Cuomo Drops $9.6 Million in Cash on Lavish Hamptons Estate

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has splashed out $9.6 million in cash on a sprawling Hamptons estate—nearly one year after the New York City mayoral primary that marked his return to electoral politics.

Cuomo, 68, who served as governor from 2011 until his resignation in 2021, quietly picked up the waterfront property in June, according to property records.

The acquisition included four parcels totaling roughly seven acres and two residences, with the centerpiece being an enormous nine-bedroom waterfront mansion.

The historic main residence, which dates to the 1890s, offers approximately 8,500 square feet of living space and boasts 9.5 bathrooms.

A separate guesthouse provides another four bedrooms, while the resortlike grounds offer a host of high-end amenities, including a tennis court, swimming pool, gym, wine cellar, private beach, docks, and boathouse.

There is also a five-car garage, giving Cuomo plenty of room for his collection of vintage cars.

The main residential parcel encompasses approximately 4.2 acres, offering sweeping water views and plenty of privacy.

Lauren Spiegel of Douglas Elliman represented the seller in the transaction, while records indicate that Cuomo did not use a buyer’s broker.

The property was purchased through LLCs linked to the former governor, with no mortgage recorded in connection with the $9.6 million deal.

Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi confirmed the purchase, telling The New York Times that Cuomo intends to sell the vacant lots included in the acquisition while using the residence as a summer home.

Cuomo also maintains an apartment in New York City.

The multimillion-dollar purchase comes less than a year after Cuomo’s unsuccessful attempt to make a political comeback in the 2025 New York City mayoral election.

After resigning as governor in 2021 amid allegations of sexual harassment, which he has denied, Cuomo largely retreated from electoral politics before launching his campaign for New York City mayor in 2025.

He lost the Democratic primary to Zohran Mamdani before continuing his campaign as an independent candidate in the general election. Mamdani ultimately defeated Cuomo in November.

Cuomo’s living arrangements became a point of interest during the race, when he was residing in a Manhattan rental that reportedly cost around $8,000 per month.

But Cuomo had also built a lucrative career in the private sector after leaving the governor’s office.

Following his resignation, the former governor established a private consulting firm and later entered into a podcast deal.

The New York Times subsequently revealed that Cuomo earned nearly $5 million from his consulting work in 2024.

During his mayoral campaign, Cuomo said he had stopped his private work while running for office. However, he declined to publicly disclose the full list of clients who had paid for his consulting services.

More recently, Cuomo has expanded his involvement in the cryptocurrency industry.

In June, he was named co-chair of a partnership involving cryptocurrency exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange.

Now, his latest real estate purchase gives the former governor a substantial new foothold in the Hamptons—complete with enough acreage and amenities to turn his summers into a decidedly resortlike affair.
