Charleston Spirit of Giving Day NonProfit Palooza

Up to 50 nonprofit organizations will be attending The Charleston Spirit of Giving Day Nonprofit Palooza at the Striped Pig Distillery (SPD) on August 17th, National Nonprofit Day, with the goal of having the largest gathering of nonprofits fundraising together on one day under one roof in the Lowcountry. The day starts with a community brunch, where community and business leaders will have the opportunity to share a message of support for local nonprofits. Following the brunch, the Nonprofit Palooza will see up to 50 nonprofits fundraising as well as distributing information about their organizations, such as volunteer opportunities and how to donate to the community. Expect bake sales, gala tickets, merchandise sales, raffles, a car wash, and more activities throughout the afternoon.

All are encouraged to attend in show of support for the nonprofit initiatives benefiting the local community. Tickets to the Community Brunch, from 11am-1pm, are $25 and can be purchased via City Paper Tickets. Admission to the NonProfit Palooza, from 1pm-3pm, is free. Sponsorship opportunities are available and Community Raffle donations are welcome; for more information, contact: trina@theminiskirt.org.Striped Pig Distillery is located at 2225 Old School Dr., North Charleston.

The Nonprofit Palooza is a “Sip & Share” event hosted by SPD in collaboration with local youth nonprofit MiniSkirt, sponsored and supported by Ghost Monkey Brewery, Skirt magazine, Ohm Radio, Cumulus Media, Dream It Print It, and Digital-Online. Participating nonprofits include: YWCA of Greater Charleston, Adopt-a-Community, Shared City, USS Yorktown Foundation, Bliss Spiritual Co-Op, Jerseys for Juniors, Sweet J’s Clubhouse, Representation Matters, Leveling the Fields, Epworth Children’s Home, StriveHigh Academy, Still Worthy, Her Future Coalition, Lowcountry Youth Services, M-Pact, Radiant Academy, Tri-County SPEAKS, MiniSkirt, and more.

“We couldn’t be more excited for the Nonprofit Palooza,” said Pixie Paula Dezzutti, owner of Striped Pig Distillery. “August 17 is National Nonprofit Day, so what better way to showcase our commitment to the community than to help area nonprofits raise funds and gain more visibility. When we all come together, we can achieve so much more.”

SPD’s Sip & Share program allows nonprofits access to the Distillery’s event space at special discounted rates, and Striped Pig gives back $2 for every bottle of liquor purchased in conjunction with the event. Organizations can also register for a Sip & Share campaign, and any time their nonprofit is mentioned by a customer at checkout, $2 of any bottle sales will be allocated to their cause.

About Striped Pig Distillery

The award-winning Striped Pig Distillery, a WBENC certified woman-owned, family-run, community-driven business, is celebrating its 11th year, marking its tenure as Charleston’s oldest distillery. Its origin story, dating back to 1838, is one of ‘great curiosity’ and a nod to some tongue-in-cheek US history, brought to life by their beloved Striped Pig mascot Jackson, who used to make appearances at the Distillery and even downtown Charleston. Striped Pig helped revive the distillery scene in the holy city when it opened its doors in 2013 and has successfully kept driving the distillery scene and wider industry forward. Since those early days, the Pig has made headlines for raising over $40,000 for local veteran organizations; expanded its lineup; received numerous accolades and awards; and, come out with many firsts, like the first Bottled in Bond Bourbon launched on the blockchain. Through its Sip & Share platform, SPD is dedicated to fostering community growth, helping to change the meaning of drinking responsibly by giving back dollars to community causes, delivering high quality, socially responsible beverages while simultaneously impacting the economic empowerment of communities. CEO Pixie Paula Dezzutti was recently honored in Forbes 50 over 50 and is author of Amazon #1 best seller Alphabet Soup: The ABCs of NFTs and Other Blockchain Acronyms.
