Luxembourg Unemployment Rises to Highest Since 2020 – Rehana William |Financial Consultant _Forex_Gold Xauusd| Fund Manager
Luxembourg’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 6.5% in August 2026, the highest level since July 2020, up from 6.3% in the previous month.
The number of unemployed persons increased by 464 over the month to 20,900, with the increase particularly pronounced among highly qualified job seekers (19%).
By age group, the largest increase was among those aged 30 to 44 (13.9%), followed by those aged 16 to 29 (13.5%). Total employment also rose by 139 to 302,888, while the labor force population increased by 602 to 323,787.
Regarding cross-border employment, the number of outgoing resident workers increased by 26 to 15,544, while the number of incoming cross-border workers rose by 227 to 235,753. In August 2025, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 5.9%.
