Since the turn of the century, I think I’ve only missed one election, the 2020 presidential primary, which was already over before I got to vote, so I didn’t bother. We almost always vote by mail.
We’ve never had a problem voting by mail until now. We voted early, and today, both of our ballots were returned because the signatures allegedly don’t match the signatures on our voter registration cards.
We received thick packets describing how we can “cure” our ballots, i.e., by filling out an affidavit and mailing that and a copy of our ID to the supervisor of elections office or bringing those documents to that office in person.
There will be a time and money cost, but we will do it. Still, I find it suspicious that this year, BOTH our signatures are suddenly suspect. Also, I wonder if lots of other people (who happen to be registered Democrats) find themselves in the same boat.
It’s possible I’m being paranoid, but I think I’ll mention this to the local precinct committee people. What do y’all think?
