These were the best-selling games in Canada in July 2026

The Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) and Circana have revealed the best-selling games in Canada in July 2026.

The full list is as follows. Note that digital sales are not included for Nintendo and Xbox games.

1. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced (Ubisoft Singapore/Ubisoft)
2. Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online (Game Studio/Bandai Namco)
3. Splatoon Raiders (Nintendo)
4. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar North/Rockstar Games)
5. Red Dead Redemption II (Rockstar Games)
6. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (Nintendo)
7. Digimon Story: Time Stranger (Media Vision/Bandai Namco)
8. Resident Evil Requiem (Capcom)
9. Halo: Campaign Evolved (Halo Studios/Xbox)
10. MLB: The Show 26 (San Diego Studio/PlayStation)

It should be noted that Circana confirmed this week that Xbox and EA are no longer sharing digital sales data with the firm. Unfortunately, this reduces transparency in an already notoriously secretive industry.

Otherwise, the most notable thing about this list, from a Canadian perspective, is that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a Ubisoft Singapore-led remake of Ubisoft Montreal’s original acclaimed 2013 Black Flag. The Montreal team was also one of many global studios assisting with the development of the remake. Additionally, Oakville, Ont.-based Rockstar Toronto helped in the development of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II.

For context, these were the ten best-selling games in the U.S. in July, per Circana:

2. EA Sports College Football 27 (EA Orlando/EA Sports)
3. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced (Ubisoft Singapore/Ubisoft)
4. EA Sports MVP Bundle (2026) (EA Orlando/EA Sports)
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops – (Treyarch/Activision)
6. Halo: Campaign Evolved (Halo Studios/Xbox)
7. Splatoon Raiders (Nintendo)
8. Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online (Game Studio/Bandai Namco)
9. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream – Nintendo
10. 007 First Light (IO Interactive)

Notably, the first two Black Ops games made the U.S. list — but not the Canadian counterpart — more than a decade after their original release because they just got PS4 and PS5 ports. And as always, Nintendo games and JRPGs charted higher in Canada, while sports games and shooters were more popular in the U.S. (That said, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II both made our list while they were absent on the U.S. one.)

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the August list, as it’s a relatively quiet month for releases outside of a few titles like Marvel Tokon, Big Walk and Star Wars Zero Company. This leads into an absolutely stacked September that includes high-profile games like The Blood of Dawnwalker (Sept. 3), Onimusha: Way of the Sword (Sept. 4) Marvel’s Wolverine (Sept. 15), Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave (Sept. 17), and Control Resonant (Sept. 24).
