KL Estate Agents’ Kim Birnie and Leah Robins, the brains behind the online listing video, recruited their own family members and local residents to appear in the clip.

They even threw in a trip to Maryborough’s Park Hotel to sweeten the deal, with publican Craig Jones making a star turn in the recording.
Ms Birnie and Ms Robins said they enjoyed making creative clips to highlight a home’s individuality and serve as a keepsake for the owners.
Their highlight reel includes Wizard of Oz and Wolf Creek-themed videos for other properties.

For the latest offering, the three-bedroom Wareek house’s country charm, a 1900s-era butcher’s shed and views of the Pyrenees Ranges inspired them to pay tribute to the Emmy Award-winning US sitcom, The Beverly Hillbillies.
Airing from 1962 to 1971, the television show followed a poor family, the Clampetts, who move to California after striking it rich from discovering oil.

In the Wareek video, a group of country folk drive down the property’s driveway in a vintage car as banjo music plays in the background.
Cast members utter the phrases “What in the tarnation”, “Well butter my biscuits,” and “It’s so fancy I should’ve worn my good overalls,” as they inspect the house and land.
One exclaims, “Well yeehaw, is this Wareek or Beverly Hills, I can’t tell no more,” about the 512 Norwood Rd house.
They also visit the Park Hotel for a drink alongside locals and later showcase Mr Jones crooning a country song.
What in the tarnation, indeed.

Ms Birnie said although the stereotype of a real estate agent was a “suit-wearing, Porsche-driving showpiece”, she and Ms Robins liked to have fun and involve the community in their listing videos.
While visiting Hartwell Shoes in Maryborough, the owner told them her husband owned a vintage car, resulting in both him and the vehicle appearing in the clip.
“I just loved coming down the driveway and the banjo music playing, I think it’s a really good hook for the video,” Ms Robins said.
Creativity comes naturally to the pair, with Ms Birnie doing a lot of acting and singing on television shows such as The Bert Newton Show and Denise Drysdale’s variety show in her younger years.
At the time, the late actor and singer Norman Yemm from The Sullivans and Homicide was her manager.
With the real estate agency footing the tab for some drinks, locals at the pub were only too happy to encourage buyers to inspect the home.
Wareek is a rural locality split between Pyrenees Shire and the Shire of Central Goldfields, which recorded a population of 72 in the 2021 census.
A creek runs along the property’s boundary.
