For millennia, human societies have celebrated the end of harvest and the sustaining bounties of Mother Earth. Although Thanksgiving took on a colonial overlay in 19th-century American culture, PDA celebrates Thanksgiving and First Peoples’ Day in a non-colonial sense.
We pause to celebrate the bounties of the harvest, the blessings of the past year, the losses we have mourned and endured, and the incomparable beauty and resilience of the natural world. We recommit ourselves to efforts waging peace and liberty and justice for all.
And we pause to thank YOU, for being an engaged progressive interested in a kinder future for all.
