Dating back to the 1800’s the Santa Cruz Mountains American Viticultural Area has earned its place in the history books of California winemaking. The maverick mindset and unique terrain paves the way for it to be one of California’s finest wine growing regions.
With the Silicon Valley within striking distance, this massive wine region spans three California counties—Santa Cruz, Santa Clara and San Mateo and running right through the middle of it is the San Andreas Fault.
The independent spirit that thrives in this environment, has learned how to forge a path across this region’s vast terrain. The forest, ocean and mountains make the wine, but it’s the people in these small towns at the base of steep mountains who elevate this rugged wine region one California’s finest.
