Christopher Ward is back with a new dive-watch collection, and in this episode we go straight behind the scenes with Product Director Jörg Bader to find out what makes the new Biscay different.
We get into the skin-diver inspiration behind the collection, the move away from the Aquitaine, and the new Biscay Automatic, GMT and Bronze models in 39mm and 42mm, including the new aluminium bronze alloy, its more controlled patina, the hardened aluminium bezels with 67% greater surface hardness, chronometer-certified movements and the design decisions behind keeping these watches slim while improving performance.

We also take a deep dive into the Biscay GMT, its two-tone bezel, gilt hands and indices, faux-patina Super-LumiNova and hybrid strap, alongside Christopher Ward’s Beta and five-link bracelets and the new iLink tool-free bracelet adjustment system.
From there, Jörg explains Sellita’s new Power Plus movements, changes to the balance and barrel, power reserve, and the compromises involved in balancing accuracy, reliability, slimness, complications, and cost.
We also explore how Christopher Ward’s UK and Swiss teams collaborate, how watches like the Bel Canto and Loco are developed from movement to design, the brand’s three-times-cost pricing philosophy, production volume and minimum order quantities, and why Christopher Ward can offer complicated Swiss-made watches at prices that challenge the traditional watch industry.
And naturally, we get into the internet reaction, before finishing with a few hints about what Christopher Ward is working on next — including a watch submitted to the GPHG that could arrive around October.
