Spurs Join a Crowded Field
Tottenham Hotspur have entered the chase for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, according to the Mirror, joining Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City in a stacked field. After back-to-back 17th-place finishes, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has been backed heavily in the transfer window, bringing in Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke to shore up a leaky defence, plus Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to overhaul midfield.
Scott’s Heart Set on Chelsea
Despite the competition, Chelsea appear to hold the upper hand — Scott reportedly favours a move there, even after the Blues had an opening £64 million bid rejected. Bournemouth, for their part, want to keep the 22-year-old and have offered a new contract, which he has turned down. The versatile box-to-box midfielder took time to adjust after arriving from Bristol City but grew into his role, helping the Cherries finish sixth and qualify for the Europa League last season.
