Trials and Tribulations

So…RV living. Its definitely different than being at home. Week one we faced issues with leveling in muddy conditions as plentiful rain is a given this time of year….but it does make for a good time being in a slight angle! After a couple trips to Home Depot we got it leveled out and are back to walking upright.

Coming from Texas, we weren’t immediately prepared to acknowledge freezing conditions. I guess we thought we could live in denial for a few days and mother nature would accommodate our ignorance.  But the inevitable happened and we woke up to a frozen water supply as we did not open the faucets for the night. No fun waking up in the am to find out your water is now ice. I know…we are up north, we should know these things.  I guess I could blame it on Melody since she is originally from Ohio 😂 In our defense, we did check the temperature forecast the night before and the temperature was not supposed to fall below 40. I suppose Illinois can change it’s weather on a whim as any other state. Another trip to Home Depot and we had it under control. A heat gun was employed and the water supply line was defrosted. I also added some insulation to prevent future freezes (good job, Steven).

Finally propane! With temperatures in the 30s regularly its important to keep a constant supply of propane. We ran out yesterday. It was freezing when we got back to the RV from work. I had to run to Mi Tierra to exchange the propane tanks and get us up and running again. Its been an adjustment, but its been worthwhile for the good work experience we are having. Some comforts from home help us adapt. We brought along our beautiful plants, extra ambiance lighting, and preferred cooking appliances. If we ever decide to purchase another RV in the future we already have plans for a full kitchen, bathroom and bigger bed! Lol.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
