Today’s sampling is Bellwoods’ Ultra Premium Lager. I’ve sampled this beer a few times but never reviewed it – I thought it was just alright, but I also generally drank it as a hotel beer in a plastic cup or in the can itself.
So, as someone who was a kid who grew up on a grain and cattle farm, this should intrigue me. 4.0% ABV
Appearance: Crisp, light golden golden body with a bit of carbonation in the body and a moderately thick snow white head on top, also to mention there’s a bit of micro-bubbles on the glass as the beer goes down.
Aroma: This is a sweet-forward lager with notes reminiscent of honey right from the beginning, a bit of straw, a tad bit of graininess straight from the graineries, a tad bit of a grassy-hop presence at the end. This is a very smooth and crisp lager so far.
Taste: This is a crisp and somewhat grainy lager – there’s a definite barley bite at the beginning that reminds me of being on the farm, but it’s fairly smooth. There’s a honey-like sweetness to it, a bit of a grassy hop presence to it, a hint of lemon, and a hint of cracker at the end.
