I recently decided to make a few kitchen purchases that were not food. Two will help me to save money on food, and one will just be a time saver, so it is more like a luxury item for me.
What time saver would I actually spend money on? Let me tell you. I have, for years, been thinking about a good chopper that would also allow me to shred and slice, keep things contained, and just save some work on my part. I found one on Amazon for $10.54 recently, including tax, and decided to go for it. I can’t wait for my next meal prep day to try it out!
I have also been wanting to try out one of those round canning jar vacuum sealers. I want to be able to keep dried foods fresh longer, and I have heard this is the way to do so. I have been seeing them for $30 dollars or more that come with a few accessories. If you put dry goods such as pastas and herbs in a canning jar and use the sealer, it is supposed to keep them “fresh” longer. If this works, then I can do a little more stocking up on some things when they are at good prices and be reasonably sure I can store them for a while. I am just one person, and I don’t get to everything right off.
Amazon had one for $27.99 plus tax, but they were having a promotional deal for $14.00 off. All I paid was $14.76 including tax. I thought that was a really good deal!
Most of you know I live in a very small space. It’s just a bedroom, and my kitchen is a corner of the room. I watch YouTube a lot because it is free and very informational, and I have been seeing where people are dehydrating foods. I didn’t think I would have space for one, but last week I was on Amazon and saw a compact one that will fit on my shelf. It was $29.99 plus tax, but I had a $5.00 gift card, so I got it for $26.64 including tax. This will help me to dry fresh things, and the vacuum sealer will help me to seal the jars I store food in for longer periods of time.
I can’t wait to try out my new purchases! I will report back as I am able to use them to let you know what I think. What money and time savers do you have for your kitchen?
