McDonald’s McCrispy Strips Are Back With A New Sauce • Burger Beast

McDonald’s has reentered the boneless chicken game in a big way with the return of the McCrispy Strips. Not only are these revamped chicken strips crispy and flavorful, but they’re also introducing a brand new Creamy Chili Sauce that fans of heat and dipping sauces should take note.

At my local McDonald’s, you can grab:

  • Three McCrispy Strips for $4.99 (includes two sauces)
  • Four McCrispy Strips for $5.99 (also consists of two sauces)

I opted for the four-piece combo with a mix of sauces: Creamy Chili and the newer Nether Flame, plus I sampled the other spicy sauces available at the time.

First Impressions: The Chicken

Let’s get one thing straight — these aren’t hand-breaded tenders. They’re chicken strips designed to pair well with the rest of the McDonald’s menu. Still, there’s a lot to love here. The breading is crisp and light, with visible black pepper flakes that you can taste when eaten plain. How do I know? My first bite was straight up, with no sauce — to get a feel for the base flavor.

Let’s Talk About the Sauces

Here’s a quick breakdown of what I tried:

  • Creamy Chili Sauce: Mild heat, but super creamy and addictive. It’s a brand-new dipping sauce and a great complement to the strips.
  • Spicy Buffalo: Classic, tangy, and perfect for chicken. It’s always a solid pick.
  • Hot Mustard: My personal favorite McDonald’s sauce of all time. The heat and sharp mustard flavor make everything better.
  • Nether Flame: This one was new to me. It packed a punch with a noticeable heat that didn’t overpower the flavor. It’s a real standout, but it’s too bad it’s only around for a limited time.

Marcela was with me during the tasting, so I played it safe and also ordered a backup Double Cheeseburger Meal “por si acaso” (that’s Spanish for “just in case”). It was also a good move cause the ice-cold Coke hit the spot.

Are McCrispy Strips Worth It?

As a fast-food chicken option, these McCrispy Strips are a win. They’re not trying to be a handcrafted tender like some competitors offer, but they still deliver on crunch, flavor, and value.

And let’s be real — these are clearly laying the groundwork for the return of the McDonald’s Snack Wrap, which is rumored to drop June 14, 2025. McDonald’s seems to be perfecting the strips before reintroducing one of their most requested menu items.
