Miami Pop-Up Food Vendors You Need Right Now • Burger Beast

Miami’s culinary scene is ever-evolving, with pop-up food vendors bringing fresh, inventive flavors to the forefront. These ephemeral eateries offer a dynamic dining experience, often blending cultural inspirations with bold creativity. The city’s pop-up vendors are redefining street food from Japanese-inspired dishes to wrestling-themed donuts. In this post, we’ll delve into some of Miami’s must-visit pop-up food spots that are now making waves.

Miami favorites like Babe’s Meat & Counter, Fireman Derek’s World Famous Pies, Night Owl Cookies, Proper Sausages, and USBS started similarly. They grew their businesses with great food through word of mouth.

Even the Miami Food Truck scene, ground zero for passionate people producing fantastic food, gave birth to Ms. Cheezious, and World Famous.

Michael Hernandez, the creative force behind Hungry Yokai, brings a unique fusion of Japanese culinary traditions and Miami flair to the city’s ever-growing pop-up scene. Inspired by classic Japanese cinema and folklore, Hernandez began his journey by sharing handcrafted gyoza and chili oil kits during the pandemic, which quickly evolved into sought-after pop-up events featuring dishes like yakisoba, hand rolls, and kakuni.

His clever approach has earned him spots at notable events like the South Beach Wine & Food Festival‘s Asian Night Market and Tripping Animals Brewing’s food and beer festival.

If you’re excited to experience Mike’s culinary creations, Hungry Yokai frequently hosts pop-ups at local Miami breweries (Shōjō’s Dojo) and collaborates with other chefs for special events. Hell, we even did a pop-up together!

Christian Aparicio and Nicole Gallego are the dynamic duo behind Lucha Dough, a Miami donut concept blending pro wrestling fandom with irresistibly creative flavors. Their menu features treats like the “You’re Fired!!!”—a s’mores-inspired donut as bold as its wrestling-themed name suggests—and my favorite, the named “Dee Cafecito X,” a delicious nod to Miami coffee culture.

Orders are placed exclusively via Instagram DM, and the donuts can be picked up on weekends, with additional pop-up appearances at various South Florida wrestling events.

Darien Borges and Ismael Llano, the duo behind the popular podcast Pero…Let Me Tell You have channeled their passion for Miami’s culinary scene into its pop-up venture, Pin Pan Pollo. Known for their inventive takes on chicken wings and sandwiches, they’ve introduced flavors that pay homage to Miami’s diverse culture, such as their signature Guayaba y Queso wings.

Their offerings include spicy Korean wings, a white Alabama BBQ sauce dubbed “El Santero,” and their unadorned “The Haulover” wings, a nod to local landmarks. Regularly popping up at breweries across Miami, Pin Pan Pollo has become a must-visit for those seeking bold, locally-inspired flavors. Follow them on Instagram to see where they’ll be next.

Cheesesteak from Willie’s Phillies

One of the best things I ate in 2024 came from Willie Phillies, a relatively new kid on the block. They’ve only been doing pop-ups for a few months, but these fellas are already getting people talking, aka me. The cheesesteak is chopped steak with onions and Cooper Sharp American Cheese on an Amoroso Roll.

After my first bite, I knew I had made a wrong decision. Marcela said she wasn’t hungry and we could share. Please don’t fall for those old-school schoolyard tricks cause they only lead to pain and misery. Get your own and keep those food thieves at arm’s length.
