1974 Citizen Product Catalog No.11 — Plus9Time

The 1974 No.11 Citizen dealer catalog introduces various new models and you can see the evolution of the range.

In late 1973 Citizen introduced their first quartz calibres, joining the tuning fork and electronic balance calibres in their electronic watch line up. At the start of the catalog they describe the different technologies and the advantages for each.

Thin Electronic Watch
Citizen Dress Watch [Cosmotron]

In September 1973 Citizen Citizen introduced their first quartz regulated watch with the launch of the 8811 calibre. This was followed up a month later by the EFA variant using the 8810 calibre. The standard 8811 (day/date) calibre and 8821 (date) calibre models had a monthly accuracy of ±10 seconds per month, while the EFA 8810 (day/date) calibre model had an accuracy of ±5 seconds per month. These models operated at a frequency of 16,384Hz and had a smooth sweeping hand, instead of the second movement found with a stepping motor. Despite the continuous hand movement the watch achieved a year’s operation on a single battery.
