This book had a lot going for it—fast pacing, high stakes, and plenty of fae intrigue—but I walked away feeling a little shortchanged when it came to the relationships.
With six male leads in play, the story often felt like it was juggling too many threads at once. Instead of digging deep into one or two of the romances, most of the attention gets spread thin, and the emotional payoff just isn’t there. There’s lust, attraction, and plenty of tension, but not enough of the kind of connection that makes me feel invested in the outcome. I kept wishing the focus would narrow so the relationships could breathe and grow.
That said, the worldbuilding is vivid and imaginative. The fae courts, the magic, and the political stakes all feel alive, and Pecherczyk knows how to keep the action moving. The atmosphere is rich, and the darker tone adds weight to the story.
Overall, Trials of Dusk and Dreams is a solid entry with strong pacing and immersive worldbuilding, but the romance side of things didn’t deliver the depth I was hoping for. It’s enjoyable, but I wanted more heart and less juggling.
