Hello Kitty Island Jeju – Is This Sanrio Museum Worth Visiting (2026)?

One of my favourite attractions on Jeju Island has to be the whimsical Hello Kitty Island Jeju.
It’s an adorable Sanrio museum with three floors of photo zones, exhibits, games, a gift shop and a pretty pink café.
During my visit to Jeju, a public service announcement text was sent out with a warning about a torrential rainstorm and to avoid the coast.
The visibility was terrible, and it was upsetting that I had to change my outdoor plans. But, hey, it happens; it is a tropical island after all.
So, I decided that this Sanrio Museum was the best place to distract me while riding out the storm.
Here is a complete guide for Hello Kitty Island Jeju with all the fun things you can do there and whether it’s worth visiting.
What is Hello Kitty Island Jeju?
Hello Kitty Island is a Sanrio museum located on Jeju Island in South Korea.
It’s the perfect rainy day activity as it’s mostly all indoors and it has three floors of adorable exhibits.
You’ll find photo zones, museum rooms, games, an arcade, play areas, a pink café, a gift shop and a panoramic rooftop.
If you love Sanrio Characters, you will fall in love with this place as it’s an enchanting attraction designed for visitors of all ages.
Is Hello Kitty Island for kids?
Although the Jeju Sanrio Museum is the perfect place to take small children, it’s not exclusively for families with kids.
I encountered mostly fully grown adults visiting Hello Kitty Island, as it’s a paradise for photography.
You have to think that Hello Kitty is over 50 years old, so there are many generations of people who love her and her friends.
There are also things to do here for all ages, so don’t be put off if you’re a big kid.
How to visit Hello Kitty Island on Jeju Island
Hello Kitty Island is located near Seogwipo on Jeju. This is southwest of the island near the Bonte Museum and Osulloc Tea Museum.
If you have your own car, there is a large car park located right outside the museum with plenty of space.
If you’re not driving, you will have to plan your bus journey here as there are no subways or trains on the island. But it’s very easy to do.
I travelled around Jeju Island exclusively by bus, and I found it manageable with a little pre-planning.
You can take the 500 Bus from Jeju Airport, or you can take the 282 from Jeju City Bus Station to Teddy Valley Golf & Resort.
It’s then just a few minutes’ walk from the bus stop to the Sanrio Museum. You’ll know when you’ve arrived as it’s a bright pink building (naturally).
I highly recommend purchasing a T-Money Card in South Korea to pay for bus travel. Also, download Naver Maps as Google Maps doesn’t work well.
Opening hours and entry fees
Hello Kitty Island Jeju is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm. So, you can visit any time during your island adventures.
The entrance fees are:
- Adults: ₩16,000 (£8.20 / $11)
- Students: ₩15,000 (£7.70 / $10)
- Children: ₩13,000 (£6.70 / $9)
I found this price to be really reasonable for the size and quality of the Hello Kitty exhibition.
Things to do in Hello Kitty Island Jeju
Hello Kitty Island Jeju is not a regular theme park; it’s more of a Sanrio exhibition.
There are three floors to explore during your visit with oodles of displays, photo zones, exhibits, play areas, a pink café and a gift shop.
Here are all the magical things to do in Hello Kitty Island Jeju.
Warning: there will be lots of photos in this post as this attraction is cuteness overload! If you don’t like that or hate people having fun, click away.
1. Take a photo with the huge Hello Kitty sign
As soon as you enter the Sanrio exhibition through a cat-shaped door, you’ll be greeted by a HUGE Hello Kitty Island sign.
It’s breathtaking in size and stretches over three floors, making for an incredible photo opportunity.
Inside the cute facade, you’ll find a colourful room with all the Sanrio Characters welcoming you.
2. Visit the Hello Kitty Museum
You’ll then head inside a museum room with displays of Hello Kitty and Sanrio Characters over time.
It’s wild to think that Hello Kitty is over 50 years old now. So, there are many generations of people who love her. Here, you can learn her story.
There is a timeline with display cases showcasing items and photos of her development and the Sanrio franchise over the decades.
I loved snooping around this room as the transformation from when she first debuted fifty years ago to her appearance today was fascinating.
3. Pose with Sanrio displays
After the museum room, you’ll then enter a series of photo zones with some incredible Sanrio displays.
There is a huge plush statue of Hello Kitty with her teddy bear Tiny Chum. You could even stroke the furry wall beside them!
My favourite room was the one filled with all sorts of Sanrio plush toys in a collage. It was mesmerising!
Kuromi is my favourite character, and so I mostly got photos with her, but you can also pose with Cinnamoroll, Pochacco and My Melody.
There are also neon displays filled with Hello Kitty lights, large calculators and tape cutters. It’s a cartoon lover’s dream.
4. Explore Sanrio Town
Lastly, you’ll enter Sanrio Town on the first floor. This is a room filled with all the Sanrio characters’ homes and buildings.
Of course, I naturally gravitated to Kuromi’s house, which you could enter. Inside, you’ll find her wardrobe filled with her cute stylish clothes!
You can also enter a Hello Kitty Post Office and pose with Cinnamoroll on his bus. Pompompurin has a café with some tables set up for patrons.
Pochacco’s house was an ice cream cone, My Melody’s home was shaped like a mushroom, and the Little Twin Stars live in a pink cloud.
In the middle, you’ll find a Hello Kitty pavilion which has a stamp station if you’re collecting (more on this later).
For little ones, you’ll find a Keroppi Ball Pit with slides. This was very popular on my visit.
I spent so long in this room as I was loving getting photos of everything. It’s like walking through a Sanrio cartoon.
5. Sanrio Carnival
On the second floor, you’ll find a fun fair with all sorts of Hello Kitty carnival displays.
You can pose with a merry-go-round, a ferris wheel and some hot air balloons designed like your favourite Sanrio Characters.
There’s also a Hello Kitty Cinema playing a movie and a Go-Kart track that you can snap as well.
It’s good to know that these aren’t real rides. They are all stationary. But they look great in photos.
6. Visit Hello Kitty’s House
After the carnival, you’ll enter a movie room where you can find Sanrio Characters floating across the walls.
You’ll then enter Hello Kitty’s house where you can find her playing the piano.
It’s actually such an adorable place to look around, as you can find her wardrobe, bed, and lounge to pose with.
Again, for little ones, there’s a large soft play area on this floor where they can run riot.
7. Hello Kitty Island Café
One of my favourite things to do on Hello Kitty Island Jeju was to visit their pretty café.
The entire room is decorated in gorgeous shades of pink with Hello Kitty-shaped doors, lampshades and sofas to sit on.
All the tables had these super cute bow-shaped cushions too. It was a dream come true!
They sell a great range of Sanrio-themed food and drinks, and they are mostly pink.
They had all sorts of ice cream roll cakes that were shaped like Sanrio Characters. I’ve seen these before on my trip to Japan.
I ordered a pink lemonade and a strawberry Hello Kitty Cream Cake. Both were really sweet and delicious.
They didn’t sell a great range of savoury food. It was mainly toasties with crisps and salad. But there were (limited) options.
8. Sanrio Arcade
On the third floor, you’ll find an entire Sanrio Arcade that’s filled with games to play.
There was a large row of Sanrio Gachapon machines where you could try to win figurines and pin badges.
There were no exclusives on my visit, but they did have some really cute Kuromi and My Melody prizes.
You can also find heaps of claw machines where you can hope to win some Sanrio plush toys.
I particularly loved their photo booths. They have all sorts of backdrops with Hello Kitty Island on them.
I didn’t realise at the time, but you actually receive a plastic photo card that fits in your wallet. It made such a great souvenir!
9. Colouring & Badge Making
Talking of souvenirs, Hello Kitty Island have a craft area on the third floor where visitors of all ages can participate.
You can colour in one of their Hello Kitty Island sheets with a selection of crayons.
I love colouring in as I find it really relaxing, so I had a great time sitting here doing that.
You can also pay to colour in and make your own badge or pocket mirror! You need to pay 2,000 won (£1), but it was worth it to me.
10. Hello Kitty Island rooftop
After you’ve explored the third floor rooms, you can step out onto their rooftop terrace to find more Sanrio goodness.
Here, you’ll find a statue of Hello Kitty’s family that you can pose with, plus some Tiny Chum’s running around in tunnels.
You’ll then find a large Hello Kitty fountain. This looked like something you’d find in a wedding venue.
Behind that, you can enter the garden maze. Around each corner of the labyrinth, you can find topiary shaped like Sanrio Characters.
I was so happy that the relentless rain held off for a spell so I could explore this in the dry. It was all so enchanting!
11. Collect Hello Kitty Island Stamps
If you love stamp collecting, you’ll be pleased to know that Hello Kitty Island has its own stamp trail.
You can buy a stamp book at reception before your visit and collect character ink stamps on each floor.
It also comes with cute stickers to decorate the pages and makes a great souvenir to remember your visit.
12. Buy Hello Kitty Island souvenirs
Of course, you exit Hello Kitty Island through a large gift shop where they have every sort of Sanrio gift you could think of.
They mostly sell plushies, but they also sell headbands, bags, stationery, blind boxes and figurines. I bought my Kuromi ears from here.
The most popular items are their exclusive Jeju Hello Kitty plush charms. As they are only sold here, they sell like hot cakes!
You can find a Hello Kitty with a bikini, posing with her surfboard and in a Hellabong tangerine hat, a popular symbol of Jeju.
Honestly, if you love Sanrio, prepare to do some healthy damage to your wallet as the merchandise is pricey but too hard to resist!
Is Hello Kitty Island Jeju worth visiting?
Yes, I honestly had such a fun time at Hello Kitty Island Jeju. It’s a whimsical place and a kawaii paradise for Sanrio fans.
It was raining heavily all over Jeju Island during my visit, which was upsetting, but this museum really cheered me up!
As you can tell, I wasn’t bored and took lots of photos as every corner was cuteness overload.
I went alone, and I didn’t feel out of place at all as most of the other visitors were also fully grown adults.
We’re all just kids at heart with a love for Sanrio. So, don’t be put off if you’re in the same boat.
It’s a charming museum with three floors of photo opportunities, games, exhibits and a pretty pink café.
If you love cute characters, you must visit Hello Kitty Island Jeju!
How long do you need to visit?
I would set aside around 2-3 hours to visit Hello Kitty Island Jeju.
There are three floors of kawaii goodness inside, and the time of your visit will depend on how much you love Sanrio.
You will find endless photo opportunities, the Hello Kitty Island café, a rooftop and a gift shop. These will all take time.
As it was a torrential storm on my visit, I spent as much time in here as possible to avoid the rain. I had so much fun!
Are there any rides in Hello Kitty Island Jeju?
No, it’s not that kind of amusement park. It’s mainly a Sanrio exhibition filled with cute statues and photo opportunities.
Although there are no thrill rides, you can still pose in their stationary Sanrio merry-go-rounds and ferris wheels.
Regardless, it’s still an incredible place that is a paradise on Jeju Island if you love Hello Kitty and her adorable friends.
