Mido OCEAN STAR 39 | Watches News

OUT OF THE BLUE

To get this new summertime interlude rolling, the brand center stages an interpretation of one of its star models. Here, design choices and technical features mingle judiciously.

Among the myriad of hues that seas and oceans can take on, some conjure travel, far-distant lands, laid-back lifestyles. The dial of this variation of the Mido Ocean Star 39, flaunting a textured wave pattern, captures these emotions. Its blue color, at times resembling the crystal-clear waters of sun-kissed lagoons, at other times evoking the more intense shades of the wide-open swell, highlights the undulating relief that brings to mind the ebb and flow of the tide on the sand.

This appealing look reigns on a real watch boasting everything it takes to dive safely. Its 39 mm-diameter, 10.5 mm-thick case, waterproof to depths of 200 meters, merges with a handy, graduated unidirectional rotating bezel. Time data is ever-so easy to read no matter the conditions of light thanks to white Super-LumiNova®, scattered everywhere. All the information is driven accurately by Caliber 72, equipped with a NivachronTM balance spring that helps ensure the piece is insensitive to magnetic fields. This selfwinding movement, set to four different positions, delivers three-day autonomy to this iteration.

What’s more, to cater for all tastes and be perfectly at ease on land or out at sea, this Ocean Star 39 can be worn on a metal link bracelet to enhance a chic & sporty outfit or, of course, on an optional rubber wraparound whose hue matches the dial and asserts more casual attitude.
