Every Minecraft player knows that speedrun seeds are tough to come by because they require a special set of conditions. We’ve collected the 30 best speedrun seeds for Minecraft 1.20 that will provide you with quick access to the Nether and the End, letting you defeat that pesky Ender Dragon as quickly as possible.

Minecraft 1.20: Top 30 Best Speedrun Seeds

Two Desert Blacksmiths

  • Seed: -6222549813340640886
  • Version: Java
  • Spawn: 2, -10
  • Biomes: Basalt Delta, Desert, Savanna, Wooded Badlands

Many of the speedrun seeds on our list rely on ruined Nether portals that spawn with enough obsidian or lava to make them functional immediately. This seed is a little different because the key location is not the ruined Nether portal, but the Desert Village next to it. Looking through this village reveals that two of its villagers are blacksmiths. While one has a chest with some iron goodies, the other has seven obsidian blocks. This is more than enough to recreate the ruined Nether portal next to the village. It will take some time to reach the Nether Fortress from the portal in the Nether, but thankfully you’ll only need to gather enough Blaze Rods for nine Eyes of Ender, as the portal starts with three.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Desert Village with Two Blacksmiths: 127, 288
Blaze Spawner: -206, 71, -241
End Portal with Three Eyes of Ender: -1,456, 21, -102

Nearly-Complete Nether Portal by Savanna Village

Screenshot by Gameskinny

This speedrun begins in a Badlands biome next to a Savanna. There are two ruined Nether portals in the neighboring Savanna biome. The first has one obsidian in its chest, while the second is missing only two obsidian and has lava around it. If you’re comfortable with the lava bucket method of making obsidian, rush straight towards the second portal to activate it and enter the Nether. You can also loot the village next to it for food and a few other necessities. After going into the Nether and gathering enough Blaze Rods for 11 Eyes of Ender, head to the closest Stronghold to make your way to the End.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether Portal with One Obsidian in chest: 240, -290
Ruined Nether Portal by Savanna Village: 655, 140
Blaze Spawner: -235, 71, 171
End Portal with One Eye of Ender: 697, -13, 629

Ocean Portal Speedrun

Screenshot by Gameskinny

While you will have to travel a bit to make your way from Spawn to the Nether Portal to the End Portal, you’ll never need to backtrack or stray off course. Begin your speedrun by heading straight for the ruined Nether portal floating atop an ocean. There will be enough Obsidian in its chest to rebuild the portal, so all you’ll need to do is gather an iron ingot and some flint for a flint-and-steel. Make sure to bring plenty of blocks into the Nether, as you’ll need to travel through the Nether to reach the closest Fortress. To complete the End Portal, you’ll only need to gather enough Blaze Rods for 11 Eyes of Ender.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether Portal: -1,083, 37
Blaze Spawner: -566, 63, -165
Savanna Village: -1,420, -180
End Portal with One Eye of Ender: -1,417, -32, -75

Iron Blacksmith with Ruined Nether Portal

Screenshot by Gameskinny

A ruined Nether portal has merged with a Blacksmith and another home in this Plains Village. The portal’s chest contains a flint-and-steel, while the Blacksmith’s has enough iron to make a bucket, allowing players to make their own Nether portal. If you’re not a fan of the bucket method, there is a ruined Nether portal that can be completed using only its own chest on the way to the End Portal. That portal will transport players to a Crimson Forest that is within 150 blocks of a Nether Fortress. You will need to gather enough Blaze Rods here to craft enough Eyes of Ender to fill an entire portal since the nearest one starts with none.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Blacksmith Village with Ruined Nether Portal: 131, 680
Ruined Nether Portal: -302, 817
Nether Fortress: -114, 66, 216
Plains Village 2: -455, 814
End Portal with 0 Eyes of Ender: -476, -37, 823

Two End Portals

A Minecraft End Portal with one Eye of Ender
Screenshot by Gameskinny

At the start of this seed, players will need to walk northeast to find a Plains Village with two Blacksmiths. The first blacksmith will have 5 obsidian blocks and some iron armor, while the second will have food and two diamonds. The items from the first blacksmith can be used to finish the ruined Nether portal near the village. When players are ready to go to the End, they can choose one of two End Portals to travel to. The first is in the southwest with no Eyes of Ender placed within it. A second End Portal is to the northeast and conveniently contains one Eye of Ender.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village with two Blacksmiths: -490, -500
Ruined Nether Portal: -385, -556
Nether Fortress: -642, -653
End Portal with 0 Eyes of Ender: -1,481, -14, 298
End Portal with 1 Eye of Ender: 557, -24, -1,674

Desert Portal to Soul Sand Fortress

  • Seed: 8828867501337545538
  • Version: Bedrock
  • Spawn: -437, 179
  • Biomes: Desert, Mangrove Swamp, Warm Ocean

A large Desert holds the key to speedrunning Minecraft in this world. Players will start in a Desert Village by a ruined Nether portal. This portal is optional, but its chest will contain some gold armor that may make traversing the Nether more bearable. Speedrunners must then cross the ocean to reach a second Nether Portal. It is slightly buried in the sand, and its chest contains everything you need to rebuild and light it. Taking this portal will teleport players a short walk away from a Nether Fortress. The End Portal already contains one Eye of Ender, so players will only need to craft eleven more.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether Portal 1: -449, 271
Ruined Nether Portal 2: -1,139, -353
Nether Fortress: -179, 67, -46
End Portal with One Eye of Ender: -459, -19, -1,436

Ruined Portal to Nether Fortress

Screenshot by Gameskinny

The key elements of this speedrun seed are its many ruined Nether Portals. By looting the chests of the first three portals on your way to the Stronghold, you’ll gather enough obsidian blocks and a flint-and-steel to help you rebuild the fourth ruined portal. That portal will spawn you right next to a Nether Fortress, so you won’t have to search the Nether to gather Blaze Powder. Luckily, the Stronghold is pretty close to that Nether Portal as well. Its End Portal already contains two Eyes of Ender, so you can spend less time harvesting Blaze Powder in the Nether.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether Portal 1: 82, 81
Ruined Nether Portal 2: -306, 70
Ruined Nether Portal 3: -444, 844
Ruined Nether Portal 4: -985, 1,029
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: -246, 61, 138
End Portal with Two Eyes of Ender: -894, -55, 1,083

Desert’s Functional Nether Portal

A ruined Nether portal that is only missing one obsidian block in a Minecraft desert
Screenshot by Gameskinny

After making your way off the Windswept Hill biome at Spawn, you’ll come face to face with a ruined Nether portal that is only missing a single obsidian block. Dig up the chest hidden beneath the sand next to the portal to receive a few blocks of obsidian, a flint-and-steel, and a piece of golden armor. The obsidian and flint-and-steel will help you easily rebuild the portal, while the golden armor will help protect you from Piglins. The only downside is that you will need to travel a few hundred blocks to reach the closest Blaze Spawner. Once you’ve gathered 12 Blaze Powder, return to the Overworld and travel to the nearest Stronghold. Its portal does not have any Eyes of Ender in it, so you’ll need to make sure you craft a full set of 12 Eyes of Ender.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Functional Ruined Nether Portal: 240, 66
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: 398, 84, 340
Desert Village by Desert Temple: 321, -312
Desert Village above End Portal: 308, -908
End Portal with 0 Eyes of Ender: 323, -2, -962

Half-Complete Portal

  • Seed: 26468405159447151
  • Version: Java
  • Spawn: -10, -9
  • Biomes: Frozen Peaks, Meadow, Taiga

The closest Nether Portal to Spawn is almost fully completed. It is missing four total blocks of obsidian, two of which you’ll find in the chest next to it. The easiest way of getting the other two is by using the water bucket method, but you could rush for diamonds and mine two obsidian blocks instead. You’ll need to gather at least 12 Ender Pearls and 12 Blaze Powder in the Nether since the End Portal in this world has no Eyes of Ender. On the way to the Stronghold, you’ll run into a Plains Village and at least one more ruined Nether portal. Use them to get food and a few other handy resources before you take on the Ender Dragon.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Portal: 126, 293
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: 71, 65, 78
Plains Village: -380, 740
End Portal with No Eyes of Ender: -950, -3, 976

Three-eyed portal beneath Plains Village

What makes this seed a great speedrun seed is the Stronghold in close proximity to Spawn. It is only 700 blocks away, contains an End Portal with three activated eyes, and is fortunately located beneath a Plains Village. The best way to visit the Nether is by using the ruined portal a short walk from the village. It is missing 5 obsidian blocks, but does have a pool of lava beneath it that can be used for crafting them.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: -894, 285
Nether Fortress: 204, 65, 376
Plains Village: -811, 188
End Portal with three Eyes: -885, -22, 203

Path to the End

While traveling to the Stronghold in this seed, you’ll come across a village with a Blacksmith. Make sure to loot the chest in his home because it contains a diamond and six obsidian blocks. These blocks will make it easy to rebuild any ruined Nether portal, but I’d recommend holding onto them until you reach a ruined portal next to a Plains Village. It has flint and iron nuggets in its chest, allowing you to immediately craft a flint-and-steel to light the portal. When you’re done in the Nether, returning to this portal in the Overworld will leave you about 500 blocks away from the Stronghold.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Blacksmith Village: -344, -169
Ruined Nether portal: -1,089, -364
Nether Fortress’ Blaze Spawner: -677, 63, -139
End Portal with one Eye: -1,692, -33, -200

Plains Village above Stronghold

Not all Bedrock Strongholds are guaranteed to have End Portals, so you’ll be happy to discover that the closest End Portal to Spawn does. There won’t be any active eyes in the portal, but there will be a village above it. Stop by a ruined Nether portal while on your way to this village. The best one on the way is nearly completed and will take you about 200 blocks away from a Nether Fortress.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: 118, 207
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: -246, 64, 327
Plains Village: 716, 757
Stronghold: 661, 29, 751

Nearly completed Nether portal

Everything you need to beat the game can be found on your way to the Stronghold, making this a great seed for speedrunners. To start, you’ll come across a Taiga Village and a ruined Nether portal while on your journey. The portal’s chest contains enough obsidian to complete the portal alongside a flint-and-steel, so reaching it will immediately send you to a place in the Nether near a Nether Fortress. You’ll only need enough Blaze Rods for eleven Eyes of Ender since the End Portal already has one active eye.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Taiga Village: 208, -512
Ruined Nether portal: 212, -1,163
Nether Fortress with Blaze Spawner: 322, 73, -169
End Portal with one Eye: 417, 38, -1,254

Stronghold Mountain

Screenshot by Gameskinny

There’s nothing better than finding everything you need to speedrun Minecraft within 800 blocks of Spawn. The path towards the Stronghold contains two ruined Nether portals, one with obsidian in its chest and one with a flint-and-steel. Take the obsidian from the first portal and use it to complete the second. The portal will spawn on top of the lava ocean in the Nether, so make sure to gather blocks to build a path to the Fortress. After leaving the Nether, you’ll find a Stronghold with an empty End Portal beneath a Taiga Village on the same mountain range as the portal.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal with obsidian: 337, -369
Ruined Nether portal with flint-and-steel: 741, -344
Nether Fortress with Blaze Spawner: -402, 71, 536
Taiga Village: 617, -206
End Portal with no Eyes: 664, 13, -212

Island Stronghold

The best ruined Nether portal in this seed comes before the village, so you’ll need to be skilled enough to go to the Nether with minimum resources. Thankfully, the portal leads you to a place in the Nether about 400 blocks away from a Nether Fortress. You’ll find the world’s nearest Stronghold, which has an End Portal with one Eye of Ender, on an island to the east.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: 113, -332
Taiga Village: 384, -256
Nether Fortress’ Blaze Spawner: -123, 77, -459
End Portal with one Eye: 1,451, -21, -309

Portal to Fortress

A speedrun is easy to do in this seed since there are two ruined Nether portals, two Plains Villages, and a Stronghold on the Plains biome you spawn in. Start by gathering materials from the first portal and the Plains Village with a Blacksmith to use to rebuild the second portal. This one will drop you straight onto a Nether Fortress, making it super easy to farm Blazes for rods! Once you have enough, head to a second Plains Village in the distance. The Stronghold with an End Portal is located directly beneath this village.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal 1: 350, 315
Plains Village 1: 322, 711
Ruined Nether portal 2: 291, 786
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: 30, 58, 219
Plains Village 2: 817, 768
End Portal with one Eye: 841, 45, 734

Two Stronghold seed

A Minecraft End Portal with one Eye of Ender in a Stronghold
Screenshot by Gameskinny

This is another speedrun seed that spawns you next to a village. To reach a Nether Portal that you can take immediately, you’ll need to travel to a Savanna a few hundred blocks away. There are two Strongholds in the area beneath Spawn. I recommend checking out the one beneath the continent because it already has an active Eye of Ender in its End Portal and will be easier to reach.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village: 3, -6
Ruined Nether portal: -544, 218
Nether Fortress Blaze Spawner: -798, 64, 273
End Portal with one Eye of Ender: -1,395, -41, -559

Simple Minecraft speedrun seed

A ruined Nether Portal next to a Forest biome in Minecraft
Screenshot by Gameskinny

You’ll be speedrunning Minecraft in no time at all with this seed. You’ll spawn next to a Plains Village with a Blacksmith, whose chest mainly contains food. After visiting them, walk southwest to find a ruined Nether portal next to a Forest. There will be enough obsidian in its chest to repair it, making a trip to the Nether easier than ever. This seed’s Stronghold has an End Portal with no active eyes beneath a Plains Village to the southwest.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: -386, 240
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: -85, 57, -356
Plains Village: -844, 302
End Portal with no Eyes: -834, 26, 276

Two Eye End Portal

A Minecraft End Portal with two Eyes of Ender

One of the first things you see at Spawn is a Plains Village. Visit it, then walk towards a nearby Swamp to find a ruined Nether portal and a pool of lava. The Stronghold in this seed contains an End Portal with two active Eyes of Ender, so you’ll only need to slay enough Blazes for six Blaze Rods.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village: 7, -27
Ruined Nether portal: -503, 61
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: -798, 71, -98
End Portal with two Eyes: 932, -24, -946

Stronghold beneath Cherry Grove village

Less than 1,500 blocks from Spawn, you’ll find an End Portal with two active Eyes of Ender beneath a Plains Village with a Blacksmith. Make sure to stop by a Snowy Village with a ruined Nether portal on your way there. The portal is only missing a single obsidian block, so you won’t have to do much work to get it running.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: 786, 289
Nether Fortress’ Blaze Spawner: -382, 59, 40
Plains Village with Blacksmith: 766, 757
End Portal with two Eyes: 795, 28, 736

Savanna Blacksmith

A Savanna Village with a Blacksmith in Minecraft
Screenshot by Gameskinny

If you’re comfortable using the lava bucket method to build a Nether portal, this is a cool speedrun seed to try out! You’ll spawn in a Forest, but will need to make your way east to a Savanna Village with a Blacksmith. The smith’s chest contains enough iron ingots to make a single bucket so you can craft your Nether portal. Luckily, crafting the Nether portal near the village will generate one only a hundred blocks from a Nether Fortress. Afterward, head to the eastern edge of the Savanna to find a Stronghold containing an End Portal with one Eye of Ender inside of it.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Savanna Blacksmith: 813, -313
Nether Fortress: 235, 64, -116
End Portal with one Eye: 1,216, -36, -853

Obsidian Blacksmith

A Minecraft Savanna Village with a Blacksmith with six obsidian blocks
Screenshot by Gameskinny

This is one of the better starts on our list for Bedrock players. Leaving Spawn will lead you directly into a Savanna Village, whose Blacksmith has a chest with six obsidian blocks inside. Use these six blocks to almost completely rebuild a ruined Nether portal above a river. You’ll need to use the lava bucket method for the final obsidian block, but it’s more than worth it because the Nether portal will take you to a Crimson Forest 100 blocks from a Nether Fortress. The End portal in this world has two active eyes already, so you won’t need to gather too many Blaze Rods to finish it.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Savanna Village: -203, -358
Ruined Nether portal: 94, -371
Nether Fortress: 193, 90
Plains Village: -906, -454
End Portal with two active Eyes: -900, 25, -448

Snowy Village speedrun

A Snowy Village with a ruined Nether portal in Minecraft
Screenshot by Gameskinny

Spawn in a Snowy Village with an almost-finished, exposed, ruined portal. The portal’s chest comes with a flint and steel, but you’ll need to craft the missing three obsidian blocks yourself. Once you arrive in the Nether, you’ll need to walk 400 blocks to reach a Fortress with a Blaze Spawner. The nearest Stronghold in the Overworld is less than 900 blocks away and contains an End Portal with a single Eye of Ender.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Snowy Village: -16, 49
Ruined Nether portal: 1, 88
Nether Fortress’ Blaze Spawner: -405, 70, 205
End Portal with one Eye: 980, -17, 953

Lush End Portal

A Minecraft End Portal with two active Eyes of Ender in a Lush Cave biome
Screenshot by Gameskinny

Since speedruns focus on structures and speed, you won’t often have the chance to have unique biome generation in your seeds. This seed combines the best of speedrun seed efficiency with Minecraft’s beautiful Lush Cave biome to create an aesthetically pleasing world that will get you to the Ender Dragon as quickly as possible. Visit two Nether portals to gather gold armor and obsidian, then rebuild the second portal to arrive in the Nether not far from a Fortress. Afterward, all you have to do is locate the End Portal in the Stronghold to reach the end of the game.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal 1: 212, 244
Ruined Nether portal 2: 872, 29
Nether Fortress with Blaze Spawner: 355, 64, -101
Taiga Village: 637, -300
Lush End Portal with two active Eyes: 608, 25, -246

Two Plains Villages with a lava pool

Two Blacksmith villages with a lava pool in Minecraft
Screenshot by Gameskinny

Spawn in extremely beneficial conditions with two Plains Villages, each with a blacksmith. There’s also a lava pool nearby and lots of water, so you can easily make obsidian blocks for your Nether portal. Once in the Nether, you’ll find a Fortress with a Blaze Spawner not too far away. The nearest stronghold is located less than 1,000 blocks away from Spawn. Unfortunately, its End Portal does not start with any Eyes of Ender.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village 1: -5, -23
Plains Village 2: 126, -166
Lava Pool: 175, -111
Nether Fortress Blaze Spawner: -308, 64, -568
End Portal with no Eyes: -826, 33, -1,017

Desert speedrun

A ruined Nether portal buried in the sands of a Minecraft Desert
Screenshot by Gameskinny

Next to Spawn is a buried, ruined Nether portal that is only missing two obsidian blocks. What makes this one particularly special is the full suit of enchanted golden armor in its chest. It will keep you safe during your travels in the Nether, so all you need to do is make sure you don’t attack any Piglins. There is a Stronghold beneath a Desert Village in the same Desert. It doesn’t have any Eyes of Ender, so you’ll need to gather enough Blaze Rods for a full set.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: 0, -300
Nether Fortress’ Blaze Spawner: -277, 78, -372
Desert Village: 227, 269
Desert Village 2: 619, 730
End Portal with no active Eyes: 638, -42, 708

Starting village with a ruined Nether portal

Screenshot by Gameskinny

If you don’t want to build your own nether portal, then here’s a speedrun Minecraft seed that will spawn you into a village with a ruined portal that needs just a bit of fixing. When ready, it’ll take you straight to a Nether Fortress with plenty of Blazes. After collecting Blaze Rods, head over to the closest Stronghold to finish an End Portal that starts with three Eyes of Ender.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village: 118, 24
Ruined Nether portal: 163, 24
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: 27, 71, 95
End Portal with three Eyes: 1,067, -24, -883

Snowy speedrun

  • Seed: 198015535163144165
  • Version: Bedrock
  • Spawn: 0, 0
  • Biomes: Ice Spikes, Snowy Plains, Snowy Taiga

Snow covers the land around Spawn in this seed. To start the speedrun, you’ll need to travel to a ruined Nether portal that is missing two obsidian blocks. The first is in the chest next to it, while you’ll have to make or find the second yourself. Like several other seeds on our list, the Stronghold in this area is located beneath a village. Use the village to recover your health and grab supplies, then dig down to find an End Portal containing a single Eye of Ender.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: -494, 111
Nether Fortress: 203, 71, 572
Snowy Village: -1,064, -270
End Portal with one active Eye: -1,061, -53, -222

Plains Village’s Nether portal

A Nether portal inside of a Minecraft Plains Village
Screenshot by Gameskinny

You’ll find this Plains Village and ruined Nether portal combination only a short walk from the start of this world. The best part of this seed is the fact that the ruined portal is only missing a few obsidian blocks. It’ll take you very close to a Nether Fortress with a guaranteed Blaze Spawner. Luckily, a Stronghold with an End Portal with two active eyes is also a relatively short distance from Spawn compared to most seeds.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Plains Village: -282, -299
Ruined Nether portal: -278, -288
Blaze Spawner in Nether Fortress: -37, 64, -133
End Portal with Two Eyes: -884, 29, -944

DIY Nether portal speedrun

A lava pool next to a Desert Village in Minecraft
Screenshot by Gameskinny

Above this world’s Stronghold is a Desert Village and a small pool of lava. While you can visit a Nether portal next to Spawn for an obsidian block and a few other resources, you’ll ultimately need to build a new Nether portal using this lava pool. Once you’ve done that and crafted enough Eyes of Ender, digging down to the End Portal beneath the village will be a piece of cake.

Key Locations and their Coordinates
Ruined Nether portal: 303, 636
Lava pool: 1,288, 991
Nether Fortress’ Blaze Spawner: 544, 69, 181
Desert Village: 1,275, 939
End Portal with one active Eye: 1,312, 30, 889
