The models noted below are specially commissioned models that bear the Seiko name on the dial but are custom models for a single retailer with the design primarily driven by the client. They are not released by Seiko and are not part of a larger sub-brand such as Five Sports or Prospex. These models have Seiko model numbers assigned to them but these are rarely used by the retailer.
The watches are produced by Seiko Original Watch and customers can select from a number of pre-created designs and simply change the dial design, or can go all the way to having a watch created completely from scratch. The final product may or may not have the Seiko branding included on the dial or case back.
Often these models are announced and pre-orders taken, once the orders have been placed and the quantity determined, the watch will then begin production. This is why the delivery is commonly up to 9 months after orders have closed for the models. You will note that many of these models have a LE quantity of 300 units as this is the minimum production number that Seiko Original Watch will accept.
I have listed 25 commissioned models below, these are not included in the general statistics at the start of this article and are only included for reference, as readers may note the Seiko branding on the dial and want to know something about the model. I am sure that there are numerous other models that were released, but as they are not presented on the official seikowatches websites, tracking these is quite difficult.
Media
The largest category of models is commissioned by media rights holders of manga, anime, music, or gaming properties. There are a wide range of models offered varying in design quality and production quantities.
