Don’t Give up! – Finding Beauty in Life

My recent trip to Scotland taught me a very important lesson. Just because there are obstacles in the beginning of a thing, this doesn’t always mean you are not supposed to move ahead with it. Let me explain. We were supposed to leave for our anniversary trip to Scotland on Saturday, July 18th, but due to severe weather in NYC and then in Boston, we experienced several delays and cancellations. We did what we humanly could to leave by driving a couple of hours to another airport, only to come right back to RDU the next day and fly with a completely different airline. 

This pivot led us to fly to Edinburgh by way of London. After essentially “traveling” for three days, we were tired but we got to spend a day in London and to share the city with them. When we arrived to Edinburgh, it felt like we won! 

Looking back, I realize that if we gave up, we would have missed out on such a beautiful experience. Struggle doesn’t always mean that something isn’t meant to be. Perseverance is the reward. No one ever wants difficulty but if you must endure, the prize is well worth it! This has been one of my favorite trips yet. 

Because we didn’t give up and found another way to get to our destination,
we made it and had a blast! The country of Scotland is beautiful and the people were very nice. A bonus was the awesome weather we had—unusually mild and sunny days with the exception of a couple windy ones. Even that was manageable because we were prepared.
