First homebuyer apartments from $595k planned for Kidman Park
First homebuyers struggling to get into the market have been given a helping hand as almost 40 new apartments are set to hit the market in one of the largest urban infill residential developments in Adelaide’s western suburbs.
Backed by SA developer Fairland, the $17.5m project The Canopy Apartments at St James in Kidman Park, will feature 38 architecturally-designed affordable one and two-bedroom homes priced from $595,000.

The project – the developer’s first apartment venture – is aimed at providing first homeowners greater choice and a lower-priced entry point.
St James project director Aleck Whitham said the complex would play an important part in making the development a welcoming and vibrant community.

“In recent months, we’ve welcomed residents ranging from young couples making their first
purchase, to families seeking a larger home and downsizers wanting more convenient living.
“This apartment release will add another important layer of housing choice, particularly for first homebuyers and people looking for a more affordable way to call St James home.”
The complex, positioned near St James’ commercial precinct including food, retail, childcare, healthcare and other neighbourhood amenities, will be designed by SA’s Jabba Design and created by Built MG, with each apartment featuring a carpark; with bicycle bays for residents and visitor parking.

Construction on the project, which sits on 11ha between the city and then sea, is expected to start later this year, with the overall development to feature around 300 homes, and incorporate 1.6ha of open space.
St James will feature turnkey detached, terrace and apartment homes by some of SA’s most awarded builders, including Metricon, Regent Homes, Bradford Homes, Weeks, Urban Habitats, Sterling Homes, Normus Homes and Brazzale.
