FREE Studying the Life of David, Part 1 – Christian Children’s Authors
Do your preteens and teens feel they know everything there is to know about the life of David? After all, the story of David and Goliath is one many of them have known since they were little. Would you like to help them slow down and dive into the life of this very important – and very real – leader of Israel? Help them explore his victories and his defeats with this next series of units about the life of David.
When Samuel came to anoint David, I have to wonder who was more surprised at God’s choice for the next king of His people. Samuel certainly wasn’t expecting him. David’s father wasn’t – he didn’t even call David when he presented his sons to Samuel. And David doesn’t appear to have had the kingship on his mind. He was out in the field, tending his father’s sheep, doing as had countless times before, probably feeling quite invisible and forgotten. Do your teens ever feel this way? Do they wonder if anything they do really matters? This resource leads preteens and teens through I Samuel 16-20 with activities that encourage them to carefully read and consider what God has to say. It challenges them to consider the danger in judging by outward appearances, examine how they prioritize their relationship with God, look at what defines successful people in God’s kingdom, and discover connections between people and stories in the Old Testament. As they learn about the life of David, they will learn truths they can apply to their own lives. The unit also includes activities such as memorizing key verses, solving word puzzles, summarizing what they have studied, and more.
