Horological Meandering – A question of size, does size really matter.

Although I am meant to have reduced the amount of watches I own and I have done this as I have managed to get down to 4 watches the pull to get something new is strong mainly because I am quite simply an addict. I have found myself really drawn to neo vintage and vintage watches of late and the pull is really strong as these watches from a time gone by just really are appealing to me. I am currently struggling with a choice between two and I know the best thing to do is just get what the heart wants the most but what happens when the heart wants both equally. 

For reference I have an 18cm wrist, now one is neo vintage from 2001 and is a Cartier Tank Americaine Chronograph and is 26mm wide by 45mm long and having previously owned a Tank Americaine I know this watch will fit me well. It also comes on a Cartier deployant which IMO is important to have on any Cartier as it completes the look. I’m not going to post pictures of it as I’m sure most know the watch as others have posted one on the forum many times,

Now the second watch is a true vintage coming from 1960 and reminds me of my first job in 1975 and my bosses watch at the time. It is a square Boucheron Carree in a warm yellow gold with an Omega movement and has a hand engraved diamond shaped pattern to the dial and case and of course the famous Boucheron sliding top lug meaning with a custom strap there is no buckle.. The one and only issue with this watch is its size at just 25mm by 25mm  and whilst its width is equal to or larger than a vintage Cartier Tank its length is quite a bit shorter but being square it does present larger. Now I know from previous experience that your eyes and mind will adjust to a smaller watch quite quickly well within a couple of days it will seem normal. But I would be lying that even though I do really really love this Boucheron I really am concerned it’s just too small and may be a big mistake. Of course I realise only I can decide what is right for me but I would appreciate any one’s thoughts good or bad.
