My review and thoughts on My ABC America

This is a fun picture book teaching kids their ABCs through words that are all related to America in some way. This paperback is filled with some lovely illustrations and a little text. Beginning with some fun end pages showing some fireworks, the rest of the book has a letter of the alphabet shown on each page along with a word beginning with that letter. All of the words are ones you’d associate with America and there are some interesting things for children to learn too.

Rather than simple ABC words like: apple, book, cat, etc. I like this book as it’s something different and has American related words like American flag, Buffalo, Cowboy, Donuts, etc. Along with each word is a lovely illustration showing that item and there’s also a sentence explaining more about that item too, for example the page with Donuts tells you when National Donut Day is, or the page about Key West says more about this area. I really love the fact that you get some added facts about each part of America, it makes learning the different words in the alphabet all the more interesting and fun. This is also helped by the lovely illustrations.

Every page has some fun illustrations to accompany each letter of the alphabet and American word. I do like how vivid the colours are and how detailed some of the images are too. The pictures have lots of detail and everyone and everything looks so happy and fun. It really helps you understand the words in the ABC better too. Overall I really like this book and it’s an interesting twist on the usual ABC books you see out there. A wonderful book for anyone, but especially those who want to help kids learn their ABCs while learning more about America, and a great accompaniment to My Florida ABC too.
