Montigo Resort Seminyak Review (2026)

This post contains compensated links. Please read our disclaimer for more info.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly resort in the heart of Seminyak, Montigo Resort Seminyak should be high on your list. It’s one of those resorts that gets the balance just right. Close to the action, yet peaceful enough to truly relax. After four stays over the years (including when it was known as Semara Seminyak back in 2013), it has become one of our favourite places to stay in Bali.

So, what keeps us coming back? The location is hard to beat, tucked just off Petitenget Street and within walking distance of some of Seminyak’s best restaurants, cafes and beach clubs. The Tilo kids’ club is one of the best we have experienced in Bali, the pools are fun and the resort is large enough to offer plenty of facilities without ever feeling too big or overwhelming with children.

Since our previous visit, Montigo Resort Seminyak has undergone an exciting transformation. In August 2024, the resort unveiled a refreshed entrance and lobby, the stunning new HINOTORI Japanese restaurant, and a beautifully upgraded TADD’S all-day dining restaurant. We returned to experience all these changes firsthand in June 2026 and this review has been completely updated to ensure you have the latest information before planning your stay.

If you’re wondering whether Montigo Resort Seminyak is the right choice for your next Bali family holiday, here’s our honest review based on multiple stays over more than a decade.

Montigo Seminyak Overview

Located on Jalan Petitenget, one of Seminyak’s most desirable addresses, Montigo Resorts Seminyak places guests within walking distance of Bali’s famous beach clubs, restaurants, shopping and beaches.

The resort is approximately 30 to 45 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, depending on the time of day and Bali traffic.

Montigo is designed as a multi-generational resort, catering to couples, families, groups of friends and grandparents travelling together. Unlike some of Bali’s sprawling mega-resorts, Montigo maintains a boutique feel while still offering extensive facilities.

Highlights include:

  • 3 swimming pools
  • The largest kids’ club in Seminyak
  • Exclusive Club Lounge
  • Three dining venues
  • Family-friendly room configurations
  • Excellent location near Petitenget Beach and Potato Head

Rooms at Montigo Resort Seminyak

One thing I love about Montigo is that there are room types to suit almost every family. I’ve personally stayed in 4 different room types. We recently stayed in the Serenity Garden Pool Room in 2026. In 2022, our family stayed in the 2 Bedroom Suite and in 2019, we stayed in the Garden Suite. I stayed with a friend in the Balcony Suite in 2018. I’ve also had a look through the other categories on various visits. Here’s the full breakdown:

Superior Room

Room capacity 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years

The Superior Room is a comfortable option if you want a spacious room without moving into suite pricing. These rooms have a king- or twin-bed configuration, an ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower and a private terrace or garden area.

Located towards the back of the resort, the Superior Rooms are the furthest room category from reception and Jl Petitenget. Also you may hear music from the neighbouring Mrs Sippy site. During my stays, I haven’t found it to be a major issue but it’s worth knowing if you’re particularly sensitive to noise or travelling with very light sleepers.

Superior Room

Deluxe Room

Room capacity 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years

The Deluxe Room overlooks the family pool and includes a king or twin-bedded configuration, an ensuite bathroom with a shower, and a private balcony. Connecting rooms are available, which can be handy for families wanting two rooms close together. A great value option for families.

Deluxe Room

Premier Room

Room capacity 2 adults and 1 child under 12 years

The Premier Room are located on the ground floor in the same building as the Deluxe Rooms. They are larger and also feature a bathtub; however, connecting rooms aren’t available. Perfect for easy access to the family pool at a great value price.

Premier Room

Balcony Suite

Room capacity 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years (sofa bed setup with additional charge)

The Balcony Suite offers a more spacious stay, with a king or twin bed configuration, a bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and a private terrace or garden area. Connecting rooms are also available. I’ve stayed in this room category and loved the extra space. It works well for couples wanting more room or a parent travelling with 2 children.

Balcony Suite

Garden Suite

Room capacity 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years (sofa bed setup with additional charge)

In the same building as the Balcony Suites, the Garden Suites are in the same configuration but also feature a private garden area, perfect with kids, especially toddlers, who need an enclosed space to explore. Connecting rooms are also available. We loved staying in the Garden Suites and the easy access to the pools without going upstairs.

Garden Suite

Montigo Retreat Accommodation

Located towards the back of the resort and surrounding the Garden Pool, guests are provided with more personalised service, including:

  • Exclusive faster check-in
  • Complimentary access to Club Lounge
  • Complimentary sunset cocktail
  • Complimentary yoga class
  • 24-hour butler service
  • Exclusive VIP amenities setup
  • VIP turndown service

Serenity Garden Pool Room

2 adults

Part of the resort’s premium accommodation collection, these rooms can be configured as a king or twin bed. Features a bathroom with a shower only, and the bathroom is not separate from the bedroom. These rooms enjoy a quieter garden setting around the garden pool.

Serenity Room

Garden Pool Suite

2 adults

The Garden Pool Suite includes a king bed, a bathroom with a bathtub and a shower and a private terrace. This is a lovely, spacious option overlooking the retreat pool.

Garden Pool Suite

Two Bedroom Suite

Room capacity 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years

The Two-Bedroom Suite is the one I always recommend for families wanting extra space. We loved our stay in 2022, and the suite provided plenty of space for our family.

It includes a king bedroom, a twin bedroom, a spacious living room, two bathrooms with bathtubs and showers, plus a separate toilet near the living room. It gives families enough space to spread out, and having separate bedrooms makes a big difference when travelling with kids.

As noted earlier regarding Mrs Sippy’s location adjacent to the back of Montigo Resort, the bedrooms in these suites are better protected from any noise because they face the retreat pool.

Two Bedroom Suite Living

Club Lounge

One of the newest additions to the resort is the exclusive Club Lounge.

Guests staying in selected room categories (Serenity Garden Pool Room, Garden Pool Suite and Two Bedroom Suite) can enjoy:

  • Personalised breakfast service
  • Complimentary refreshments
  • Relaxed lounge environment
  • Quiet workspace
  • Additional guest privileges

Open daily from 7 am until 10 pm, it’s a lovely extra for guests wanting a more elevated resort experience.

Pools at Montigo Resort Seminyak

Pool hopping is practically a family activity at Montigo. Rather than having one large central pool, the resort features three beautiful pools dotted throughout the property, giving each area its own relaxed atmosphere. We loved moving between them depending on the time of day, and the kids thought exploring each one was part of the adventure.

Front Pool (next to Tadd’s Restaurant)

This is the pool right at the front of the resort, adjacent to TADD’S all-day dining and the HINOTORI Japanese restaurant. You can have breakfast by the pool here, and the alfresco seating with counter seats right at the pool edge is a lovely setup. It has both a shallow and a deeper section and is the social hub of the resort, with a lovely morning-sun orientation.

Family Pool (middle of resort)

Positioned in the centre of the resort, this long pool is ideal for swimming laps and family play. It’s long enough to swim laps, has steps for easy in-and-out access and has a dedicated shallow splash area for younger kids. The deep end nearest the gym is where my kids like to jump in. This pool gets afternoon shade from the building around 4:30 pm, so it’s great for a late-afternoon swim. Tiigo Bar delivers poolside cocktails to enjoy, and happy hour runs most of the day!

Retreat Pool (back of resort)

Tucked away at the back of the resort and surrounded by the 2 Bedroom Suites, Serenity Suites and Garden Pool Suites, this is the most relaxed of the three pools. Kids are welcome here, and there’s plenty of grass around the pool to enjoy. The depth is very manageable for little ones and the steps into the pool are perfect for sitting with a drink in hand. This one is my personal favourite for a chilled afternoon; the sunset view with the suites in the background is beautiful.

Tilo Kids Club

The Tilo Kids Club is genuinely one of the best I’ve encountered in Seminyak and one of the reasons I keep recommending Montigo to families.

What makes it stand out?

• 300 square metres of space. Huge by Bali resort standards
• Suitable for children aged 4to 12 years (children under 4 must be accompanied by a parent, nanny or guardian)
• Fully air-conditioned
• Open daily from 9 am to 9 pm
• Complimentary for in-house guests

Activities regularly include:

• PlayStation gaming
• Movie room
• Science experiments
• Arts and crafts
• Balinese cultural experiences
• Canang Sari making with a Balinese guide

The staff are genuinely engaged, and the kids’ club feels very secure. I felt completely comfortable leaving my son here while I enjoyed some time at the spa. The team kept me updated throughout the day, which really put my mind at ease. More than once, I’ve come back to art projects and crafts proudly made with the staff, always a win!

One thing many people don’t realise is that Tilo Kids Club isn’t just for resort guests. Outside guests can also purchase access, making it a great option if you’re staying elsewhere in Seminyak and need a few hours for a spa treatment, lunch, shopping or simply some downtime. You can often find discounted passes online, and I’ll link my preferred Klook deal below.

Outside nannies are also welcome to accompany children into the kids club, and babysitting services can be arranged directly through the resort if you need evening coverage.

Dining at Montigo Seminyak

Dining at Montigo has had a serious upgrade with the 2024 refurbishment. You now have three distinct on-site options, plus in-room dining.

TADD’S Restaurant

Open 7 am to 11:30 pm

Located at the front of the resort, TADD’S is the main restaurant for breakfast and casual dining. The buffet breakfast is great and you can even get sashimi!

TADD’S has both indoor and alfresco seating, with counter seats right at the pool’s edge and comfortable deck chairs under shaded umbrellas. They’ve also added hand-stretched wood-fired pizzas alongside the classic Western and Balinese dishes. Weekend evenings feature live entertainment and music.

HINOTORI Japanese Izakaya

Open 12 pm to 10 pm

This is the exciting new addition from the 2024 refurbishment. HINOTORI is a contemporary Japanese restaurant at the front of the resort, positioned poolside right next to TADD’S. It’s air-conditioned with both counter seating and well-spaced tables, ideal for a more special dinner. There’s also an all-you-can-eat offer (IDR 399,000 nett per person) and in-house guests get 10% off one meal.

Spa at Montigo Resort Seminyak

Open 9 am to 10 pm

The Montigo Spa is one of the standout features of this resort and I make a point of booking on every visit. Located in the middle of the resort, it’s a proper full-service spa with a quieter, more private feel.

Treatment highlights include:

  • Classic Balinese Massage
  • Dua Puluh Jari (four-hands massage)
  • Herbal compress treatment
  • Hot natural stone treatment
  • Body wraps and scrubs
  • Facials and skin therapy
  • Manicure and pedicure
  • Packages for both men and women plus kid-friendly treatments

The prices are reasonable for a resort spa and the quality is consistently excellent. Yoga sessions (Hatha-based) are also available through the spa and wellness team. I’d recommend booking in advance, especially in peak season.

There’s more to do at Montigo than just the pools and spa. Here’s what’s on offer at the resort:

  • Hatha Yoga classes
  • Aqua aerobics in the pool
  • Boxing sessions (Montigo Bootcamp)
  • Batik painting class a great activity with the kids
  • Canang Sari offering class, learn about Balinese Hindu offerings
  • Pilates classes
  • Cooking classes
  • Fully equipped gym open 24 hours with a room swipe key
  • Bali day tours and sightseeing packages can be arranged through the concierge

Accessing Montigo as an Outside Guest

Good news, if you’re staying elsewhere in Seminyak, you can access Montigo’s facilities as a day guest!

Kids Club (Tilo) day access: Outside guests can book the kids club for a fee. Simply arrive at Montigo reception and they’ll direct you to Tilo, which is right near the front of the resort. Outside nannies are also welcome to accompany your child. Check the resort website or contact them directly to book and confirm current pricing. You can also book through this link.

Pool access: Day pass options may be available; contact the resort directly to confirm current availability and pricing, as these can change seasonally.

To book: Contact Montigo directly at [email protected] or visit reception. They’re very helpful with arranging day access.

What is near Montigo Resort Seminyak

One of Montigo’s greatest strengths is its location. You’re on Jalan Petitenget, which puts you within easy reach of pretty much everything Seminyak has to offer.

Beach Clubs

  • Potato Head (Desa Potato Head) literally next door. An iconic Bali institution with three restaurants, three bars, a lawn, and an oceanfront infinity pool. Open daily 9 am–2 am (closed Nyepi). Family-friendly during the day.
  • Ku De Ta another classic Seminyak beach club, great for sunset drinks and family Sunday events

Beaches

  • Seminyak Beach a 7-minute walk. Beautiful sunsets, but check conditions before swimming, as there can be strong currents
  • Petitenget Beach, a beach right near the temple. A lovely spot for a stroll

Culture

  • Pura Petitenget a 15th-century temple right on the beach, still an active place of worship. Worth a quick visit if you’re nearby (sarong required). Entry around IDR 50,000.

Shopping

  • Jalan Kayu Aya (Eat Street) a mix of trendy eateries and designer boutiques a few blocks away
  • Seminyak Village curated fashion boutiques, artisan homewares, locally crafted jewellery
  • Seminyak Square a slightly older shopping strip with even more boutiques to browse

Food & Coffee

  • Baby Revs is a great little coffee shop, a 10-minute walk, open at 6:30 am
  • Biku Restaurant is one of our all-time favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have tarot reading and high tea

Seminyak has some of the best dining and cafe options in Bali. Within a short walk or Grab ride from Montigo, you’ll find everything from local warungs serving Nasi Campur to high-end restaurants and excellent specialty coffee.

Is Montigo Seminyak Worth It?

After four stays, my answer is still yes.

Montigo Seminyak consistently delivers one of the best family-friendly experiences in Bali. The combination of location, excellent kids’ facilities, spacious rooms, multiple pools and fantastic dining options makes it a resort that works equally well for toddlers, teenagers, parents and grandparents.

While there are certainly larger resorts in Bali, few manage to balance convenience, atmosphere and family-friendly facilities as successfully as Montigo.

For families wanting a central Seminyak location without sacrificing resort amenities, Montigo remains one of my favourite Bali stays.
