IndiGo, the largest carrier in Indian skies, will start offering its IndiGoStretch product on Delhi – Hyderabad – Delhi sector starting April 15, 2025. When the product is launched in Delhi – Hyderabad – Delhi, it would become the fourth route to have the product. All 20 flights each way between Delhi – Mumbai – Delhi, 15 flights each way between Delhi – Bengaluru – Delhi and 10 flights each way between Delhi – Chennai – Delhi will have IndiGoStretch product by then. The airline operates 12 flights each way between Delhi and Hyderabad.
The airline is also offering the Premium Economy cabin in the Norse Atlantic Dreamliners as IndiGoStretch. Currently there is only one aircraft in the fleet and operates to Bangkok from Delhi with more in the pipeline and the airline expecting flights to Manchester and Amsterdam, though they are not yet open for sale.
Prima facie it looks like 16 aircraft with dual class configuration have been inducted into operations. The airline aims to have 45 aircraft by the end of this year with flights on 12 sectors having dual class operations. This could likely change with the start of operations at Navi Mumbai and Jewar (Noida International Airport). IndiGoStretch fares start at ₹18,320 on the Delhi-Hyderabad route. Passengers traveling on key business routes can also book IndiGoStretch, with prices starting at ₹21,000 for Delhi-Chennai and Delhi-Bengaluru, and ₹20,018 for Delhi-Mumbai. It offers 2-seat wide bay, specially curated healthy meal options by the Chefs at Oberoi Flight Services, and premium seats designed by RECARO. With a spacious pitch of 96 cm (38 inches) and a width of 54 cm (21.3 inches), the seats feature a six-way adjustable headrest with neck support, a 12 cm (5 inch) deep recline for relaxation, electronic device holder, 60-watt USB-Type-C power supply, and a three pin universal power outlet. However, IndiGoStretch passengers have a fixed vegetarian meal only.
On the Delhi – Hyderabad – Delhi route, one flight starts with Stretch on April 15, followed by additional flights shifting to dual class aircraft progressively.
Network Thoughts
The Delhi – Hyderabad – Delhi route looked logical after the Chennai start. The next question would be if it would invest in Delhi – Kolkata next to complete the routes from Delhi before taking up routes from/to Mumbai? There are no right or wrong answers, with one route having a higher priority over others.
