Woven Honor is the latest addition to Diageo’s legacy of one-off releases under the Orphan Barrel label. This time around, it’s an 18-year-old single malt whisky from the Linkwood Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland.
Linkwood distillery dates back to 1921 with just a few pauses along the way. It’s not exactly a household name, though, so you’d be forgiven if you’d never heard of it. Their spirits are typically found in specialty collections like Single Malts of Scotland or Flora and Fauna.
Many Linkwood spirits are bottled at 12 or 15 years old, so this was my first taste of an 18-year whisky from them. It definitely doesn’t disappoint. It has a nice honey and light smoke aroma to draw you in, citrus and apples on the palate, and a return of that smokey note on the finish. Basically, it’s a really interesting glass of whiskey and well worth the special bottling.
Woven Honor is an exceptional Single Malt for those who treasure rare spirits and seek to capture a piece of whisky history. The liquid is a testament that true craftsmanship and quality are achieved through patience and the natural course of creation, just as the bottle’s label design symbolizes.
