My first trip to Tap 42 was back in 2013, shortly after they opened their original Fort Lauderdale spot. The food was solid, but the whole operation leveled up when Andy Yeager, Douglas, and Alex Rudolph joined the team.
I’ve been a Douglas Rudolph fan since way back. He brought Wendy’s to Miami-Dade in ’77 and later opened Rudy’s Sirloin SteakBurgers—still one of the best burger joints I’ve ever inhaled.

Burgers at Tap 42 Are Flat-Out Fantastic
I ordered the Prohibition Burger: cheddar cheese, bacon, and a house-made special sauce. I ditched the lettuce, tomato, and onion (standard Beast move). The proprietary beef blend was seasoned perfectly, with a just-crumbling texture I love. That sauce? Think Thousand Island with a mustard twist—so good, it deserved to be a fry dip, not just a burger topping.
So it’s no surprise that Tap 42’s burger game is ridiculous. Their Short Rib Beef Sliders have held down a spot on my favorite sliders in Miami list for years—and for good reason.

Bonus Throwback: That First Visit
Marcela had the Butternut Bisque Soup and a Turkey Melt. I was too deep in social media land to try a bite, but she gave them both a thumbs-up. That spiced cream on the soup? Looked incredible.
As for me, I went all-in on the Prohibition Burger—no regrets. The fries were crisp, the beef blend was on point, and the overall execution showed why Tap 42 has stuck around and expanded.
