Charles Fazzino joined Melody Mendez on the TODAY Show live from Governors Island to present his official Sail 4th 250 artwork during NBC’s coverage of the historic Parade of Tall Ships in New York Harbor. As the Official Artist for Sail 4th 250, Charles wanted to capture everything about the spectacular event… the color, the excitement, the sheer scale of it. His 3D pop out style lets you see the depth in every detail… the American flag, the New York skyline, even the blimp he spotted flying overhead that morning. The 3D elements in the piece are hand-cut with an X-Acto knife, and there are countless details layered throughout for collectors to discover.
Being selected as the Official Artist for Sail 4th 250 was a huge honor for Charles as a New York artist. He’s also been the Official Artist for the Super Bowl, FIFA World Cup, The Olympics, Major League Baseball, and many more. Watch the full video below.
