DO NOT LET IT BE YOU!
Matthew 24:12-13 – And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (KJV)
Read: Matthew 27:5-8
Long before Christ was betrayed and crucified, there were prophecies about the event. Zechariah 11:12-13 says, “I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.’” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord.” Judas, a disciple of Jesus Christ, fulfilled this prophecy by selling his master for exactly thirty pieces of silver. The money was later cast into the temple.
The question is whether it must have been Judas who should fulfil this prophecy, and why did it happen that he was appointed the team treasurer? The answer is not far-fetched: the fulfilment of the prophecy is inevitable, and someone must bring it to pass. Moreover, since the desire for money is a motive for providing the captors of Jesus with the information about him, Judas, the treasurer, fits into this.
However, take note that it was not until Jesus served bread to Judas that he took action. When John asked Christ who would betray him, He answered, “The one to whom I will give this piece of bread… As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him” (John 13:25-27). Judas had the will to reject the bread and to pave the way for another individual to fulfil the prophecy. But his weakness blinded his reality!
Beloved, the lesson here is that similar prophecies are manifesting in this day and time. Today’s Bible reading reveals the height of atrocities in the modern world, along with the option of endurance for guaranteed safety. It is, therefore, mandatory to be sensitive to the warning signs and not be the vessel for the fulfilment of evil events but of the good prophecies. Be intentional to do away with anything that leaves you vulnerable to the devil’s manipulation; otherwise, you will undoubtedly fulfil ungodly prophecies. Do not let it be you!
