Children’s board book with photos of real babies
I’m not quite sure how this little book made its way into our house; possibly among the many secondhand things we received after having a new baby.
“Baby Love: I Like My Soft Teddy” is a children’s board book aimed at very young babies. Using real photos, the book explores finger puppets, birds, wooden toys, milk, bathtime and bed.
This is another book featuring photographs of real babies and it is quite effective with repeating sentence structures using simple verbs, adjectives and nouns. It has a clean design with brightly coloured objects against more muted backgrounds. My toddler did seem to find it quite engaging.
However, it probably doesn’t have a huge amount of literary or developmental value. My toddler didn’t request it particularly often and, perhaps tellingly, there is no attribution to an author or photographer/illustrator.
A fun little book that we’ll likely pass on to the next family with a new baby.
