DOUG McCARTY: Build day on the Natchez Trace

While the morning sun rose above the horizon in typical fashion, the FCBA riders and support team were fed breakfast in a MOST UNUSUAL fashion.  The members and ministers at Parkway Baptist Church here in Houston MS treated us to a HUGE spread of Southern favorites, including the cheesiest cheese grits you will ever find anywhere! We were fueled for action!

Immediately after breakfast we were divided into three groups and promptly mobilized to love on people in the local community. These “love manuevers” included yard clearing work in a house located just a short distance from the church.

It also included building a new wheelchair ramp at a home a short distance away (which required us to pack a lunch).  The owners of the home were absolutely delighted with the new accessibility for the woman recently confined to a wheelchair.

And it included spending some quality time with two ladies at their home while installing some new lighting fixtures and a bathroom fan.

The work was such a joy for our team, and a welcome break between two 70-plus mile ride days with 2,000 feet of elevation at 90+ degrees. The work was enJOYable for us as it bonded us together as a team for Christ. Many of you who follow our FCBA blog posts have ridden with us previously, so you know first-hand of the pure joy we share here. But for those who have not joined on a Fuller Center Build Day, please consider joining us. The needs in this and many other communities are great. Come serve with us, fill your cup being filled to overflowing, and experience Christ as He moves through your hands and your feet.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
