I confess, my eyes watered quickly as I stared down at her dainty paw print on the message, and yes, my voice broke when I said thanks to the staff. Sandy jumped up, placing one paw on my knee and gave me a quick lick on my hand (as if to say, ‘Dad! You’re embarrassing me!) and tugged at the lead to go back to the car.
Outside, she gave me her trademark grin, jumping into my car and settled down for the journey.
On the way back home, I just felt simply touched. So much so, her artwork was placed on the fridge door for all those who enter my house to see.
What a proud dog dad, I am.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dog dads out there. x
