Delta Air Lines is utilizing a former EGYPTAIR Airbus A220-300 to help alleviate global parts shortages and ease supply chain issues.
Aircraft lessor Azorra is working with the Delta Air Lines subsidiary, Delta Material Services (DMS), to strip down the Airbus A220 and use its parts to support repairs of the US carrier’s fleet.
Parts of the former EGYPTAIR Airbus A220-300 will also be used to help other global airlines that operate the aircraft type and are in need of repairs.
The engines from the redundant A220-300 are also being leased by Azorra to Delta to support the airline’s existing fleet.
According to Fort Lauderdale-based firm, Azorra is the “first lessor to develop such a solution for the A220”.

According to ch-aviation, Delta currently operates an active fleet of 31 Airbus A220-300 aircraft with 10 noted as inactive.
“Our collaboration with Azorra is vital to ensuring we minimize the disruption caused by the parts shortages and supply chain issues our industry faces. This innovative approach highlights the value of working with our stakeholders to share ideas and address current challenges to benefit all parties,” said Mike McBride, Vice President of Maintenance Operations at DMS.
According to DMS, the company is the “sole provider of used material to Delta Air Lines and the sole distributor of used material leaving Delta’s fleet”.
