All spark plugs have a gap. It’s the distance between the center electrode and the overhanging top electrode. Setting spark plugs to the manufacturer-recommended gap distance promotes better fuel efficiency and engine performance while also preventing misfires.
Fine gap spark plugs, though, have particularly thin electrodes, making them more fragile than their conventional counterparts.
