It’s common for celebrities to travel on commercial planes, and more often than not, the public manages to act with some level of decorum. Well, a pair of celebrities were recently flying out of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), leading to complete chaos. The situation got so bad that an aircraft door had to be closed, passengers had to be offloaded, and security guards were even disciplined for their racism… oy.
Celebrities uncontrollably swarmed at Bangkok Airport
This incident happened on July 29, 2026, and involves Ayden Sng and Lv Sitong, “lead co-stars of the Chinese-Singaporean boys’ love drama series, Double Helix” (I’m putting that in quotes because I know nothing about this, and had to look up if “boys’ love drama series” is actually what it sounds like — it seems the answer is yes?).
Anyway, the pair were traveling on TG674, the late night redeye bound for Beijing Capital Airport (PEK). Fans spotted the duo at the airport, and tried to follow them, without listening to instructions. First fans tried to follow them into the lounge, despite not having access. Then fans tried to follow them to the gate, refusing to take part in necessary document checks.
The people even ran down the jet bridge behind them, to the point that the crew had to close the aircraft door, to stop unauthorized people from getting onboard.
Now, some of the fans were actually booked on the flight to Beijing. Given their behavior, the concern was that the situation would become uncontrollable once the plane was airborne, so the airline made the decision to deny boarding to 22 passengers from the group.
Bizarrely, it seems that people were asked to voluntarily get off the flight, with 12 people agreeing to have their luggage removed from the plane, and the other 10 initially refusing. It’s amazing that this was even a discussion.
This all ended up causing a delay. The flight was initially scheduled to depart at 11:50PM, but only took off at 1:06AM.
Airport security staff became racist during this situation
Here’s what makes this situation even wilder. When all of the passengers involved were detained by airport security staff, there was some obvious racism, with at least one staff member being caught making a “slanted eye” gesture at the detained travelers… it wasn’t subtle either.
That’s just disgusting, and also incredibly stupid, when this is happening while people are filming. The airport has had to issue a public apology over the disruption and the incident. While the airport defended the situation to deny boarding to passengers on safety grounds, it also acknowledged the inappropriate behavior of some staff, and promised to take action against them.
Bottom line
A pair of celebrities were flying Thai Airways from Bangkok to Beijing. They apparently had some fans at the airport who swarmed them, and tried to enter the lounge behind them. They even entered the jet bridge to the plane without permission, causing the crew to temporarily close the door. 22 people ended up being denied boarding on the flight. Then in the aftermath, the security staff were racist, making a “slanted eye” gesture to the passengers. What a disaster all around…
